I am looking for opinions. Is one type of seat better than the other? My original plan was Kirkey's like most builds go with. But there is a local autocross Miata and he has the Corbeau's and loves them. Is it just a personal preference? I would just think the Kirkey's would be stronger since it's aluminum. Just the few minutes I have sat in both it's hard to form a good opinion either way. So looking for opinions from people who have spent some time in the seats. Appreciate the opinions.

Personal preference. You'll need to backbrace the AL seats, most glass ones are made to run without a brace. You get more usable space out of the Al seats.

I sat in a number of seats when I was shopping around. I ended up going with the Kirkey RoadRace seat for a couple reasons. 1. I'm a tall guy and I needed to get as low as possible. The Kirkey and other aluminum seats seemed to get me a little lower than the fiberglass ones. 2. Cost. There were a couple fiberglass seats that got me pretty low, but they were much more expensive.
If you go with an aluminum seat I would strongly recommend a back brace for it. The research I did online and talking to a couple race shops in the area really convinced me. I got the i/o port back brace and the installation was really easy.

Thanks for the feedback. I had planned on back brace no matter what kind of seat I went with. I can see where the usable space might be better in the aluminum.

I had both a set of Corbeau FX ones and Kirkeys for a while, I was AMAZED how much more comfortable the Kirkeys are. THey really made the Corbeaus feel like a park bench. That said, it is obviously very much a personal preference. Go sit in a few different seats and see what you like best.
