I'm looking for a pretty comprehensive guide to stripping down the donor vehicle, build guide is a little short on details! Wings are off, along with front bumper, but I really need to get rid of the shell ASAP, but not rip it apart and get bogged down later! Any information would be excellent, there is lots in the build post/blogs, but I'd love to work to a printed sheet I can get grubby, not really any internet in the workshop and tablet would get a bit trashed anyway...

I used the classic Rod Grainger "Mazda MX5 1.6 Enthusiast's Workshop Manual: Enthusiast's Workshop Manual 1.6" but don't know if he did one for later models - otherwise Haynes manual.

Hi just read build manual to see what you need for the build and then work through your list removing parts as you go . If parts are not needed but saleable take them off as well

First break loose the 4 center wheel nuts while you still have brakes just loosen a turn for now.. Remove battery Drain coolant If fuel tank has a drain port lower front left side drain it.. Remove doors only for weight saving when lifting shell Pull seats, Console Rear carpet Plates under carpet Seat belt trim and then belt units. Top. 13 bolts around back rain rail and 4 side bolts. Dash..there is a center bolt under Sq. plate center wind screen. 2 bolts hold steering up to dash + mount bolts. label all connectors both sides and unused ones. Red flag all grounded wires.. Set aside to remove bits later. If not saving floor carpet cut around heater and remove carpet. Remove harness to rear LABEL Remove harness in trunk..remove lights if selling. The harness from battery push through hole in floor . After draining tank remove and save gas filler and vent hose and metal filler unit. Start breaking the harness from engine compartment label all connectors and vac lines take pics. Push harness back into car though fire wall. Remove clutch master and hard line over to intake side of engine. Break hard lines from brake master cly. and prop valve. Disconnect U joint for steering rack. Pull steering column. Pull pedals. That should keep you busy for awhile

While the car is still active depressurize the system by starting the engine and unplugging the fuel pump, when the engine stops turn off the key. Disconnect the fuel pressure line at the engine then connect a length of pipe to it and into a fuel container. Jumper the fuel pump at the diagnostic socket and let it pump the tank and lines dry. You may still get a few drips but it is the safest way to drain the system.
