Well unfortunately she failed. I hadn't fitted a rear view mirror as I didn't think it was going to be any good,my mistake. My idea of a sealed tank around fuel tank did not sway the phoned 'guru' from down south.A bulkhead must be fitted. This is not a problem since we have a CNC folder at work a nice ally one will be installed for next Tuesday retest. All in all I was very impressed with the examiner, professional, helpful and fair. He made the whole experience a pleasure, and not to be feared. A good lad! Cheers for now JC

Hi Mate
Sorry that your Sonic has failed but it sounds that it will be an easy fix. I have seen photos of your sonic on the forum and it is looking good. Good luck on Tuesday.

Clearly you impressed the inspector with the rest of your work John, I have never heard of such a close shave. Mind you he would be at risk if he passed it without a rear bulkhead. Very well done, one last little push. See you at Stoneleigh in it then, about 150 sleeps to go! Oh and then le mans. Regards Stiggy

Hi rcnut
Its looking good, I done a very similar thing with the fuel tank bulkhead but only went half way across the car. You may have already sealed the bulkhead if not it may be an idea. The mirror is the same as I used but I had to put trim around the edge to make it comply, once again you may have done this.
I hope this helps.
Regards
Mark
P.S If you are still flying heli's give us a shout if you need spares and bits, I work for Quick UK.

Well thats her all passed now and I have an IMAC certificate. Well I did have, DVLA took it off me,with all the other relevant bits of info. Doing one or two bits now she is through, steering wheel, lights (like Nigel's though my bracket didn't come out near as well as his) if your reading this Nigel a close up pic of yours would maybe help me to 'copy' it. Did you bolt yours to the body or make something down to the frame? Anyway better start on the Atomic, try to get it ready for January. Regards John

Congratulations. Great to see another Sonic on the road. Sounds like the iva was pretty painless which is reassuring.

Well it's been seven days since I was out in the Sonic and I still have the grin ,bloody great fun. Took my mate Keith out ( he is building a very nice rocket ) and we were impressed. Stopped at halfords for a tax disc holder. When I came out car and Keith were surround by interested blokes. Nice time telling them about the car and the marque. Weather has turned for the worst picture shows what it is now like, not Sonic weather
