I had the unlikely opportunity of finding a Slingshot in a canyon yesterday. It took a while to catch up, and I was gaining a new-found respect for how fast they are. We pulled over afterwards (the guy was super cool) and he has $50k into his: a 280 hp turbo, coilovers, big brakes, and fresh R888s. I am on stock springs, brakes, 150 hp engine, and quite tired DZ102s. We were both going for it, with *him* using a bit of the oncoming lane (Slingshots are wider than Corvettes), and my tired rubber complaining. The gf got a video:  |

Very nice !!! There is a Indian Motorcycle dealer (I think they are part of Polaris now?) with a Slingshot section setup in their showroom, so I get to see their demo model out and about on regular basis where I live. I'm like abc123, was interested until I saw it in person ... now it's looks remind me of the 10 year old dustbuster in my garage.

I still think they look pretty cool, kinda reminds me of a pod racer off of Star Wars. I was interested in one until I saw pictures of the tubing right by the drivers/passengers leg. That V basically leaves either person exposed to pretty severe injury should an accident occur. I know the Exocet isn't exactly the poster child for being impervious to injury in an accident, but to me, that opening looks like trouble waiting to happen. I'd definitely take my chances in an Exocet long before I would in a Slingshot.

The build quality in person looked good to me. I really liked the aluminum control arms, and the way the space frame formed around the engine. But the handling issues with 3 wheels vs the lighter weight of the Exocet and inherent goodness of the Miata make ours the better tool.

Used to want a slingshot badly until I demo'ed it with 2 of my cousins. We all unanimously agreed it was paying for expensive sex with a hot girl that did nothing except lay there. Eh ..

Sorry for the late reply .. finally saw this .. and nope, I didn't.
You do realize that car in the video is just a TAD bit non stock right ? And even if I had that car, I wouldn't delude myself into thinking I had Foust's skills. Very entertaining video.
For mere mortals in factory stock ride though, I'll pass. Literally. The sales guy offered me another lap around, I said thanks but no thanks.
