A little more progress...Almost ready for the frame, which I will be going to pick up next week. Trackspeed COPs, added -8 AN fittings to the valve cover for the breather setup (also cut the baffle plates back a bit to let it breathe better), cam gears with dress up bolts from garagestar, coolant reroute and front block off. Drilled the pan for the oil return, and got a nice adapter for the oil feed/pressure sensor. I plan to use the heater core output from the coolant spacer to feed the turbo, and return to the mixing manifold with -6 AN lines. I'll clean up the CAS once I open it up and modify it for use with the megasquirt. Also flipped it 180* to hide the connector, orientation won't matter once its setup with the MS.

Looking very clean. I like the coil on plug and AN fittings as well as the cam cover. Do you plan on having any timing belt cover once you finish it?

Nice job on the engine - looks great. I'm wondering about bodywork clearance with the COPs. I have the same oil filler cap and ended up going back to the stock one for more clearance. Looks like the COPs are higher than the cap, but they are closer to the center so it might be OK.

No cover. I cut down the lower portion so I'd have the timing marks.

Looks like the COPs are higher than the cap, but they are closer to the center so it might be OK. I hadn't even thought of that so I went out and took some pictures. The pink cap came with the donor, and although its growing on me i'll probably end up with something else. Here is a comparison between the aftermarket cap and the protege OEM oil cap that came with the valve cover. the photos look like they're at different angles because of the cropping I did, seems like they're about even with the OEM. and just a hair under the aftermarket.

Looks like they're about the same height as the stock cap, but they're in the center and farther back so I wouldn't worry about it. They looked a lot higher in the front left shot of your motor above. Good to know, I've got a set sitting in a box.

You can always add a spacer bar between the frame and front sub frame if needed....

Test fit of the turbo, put the steering rack back together with a welded pinion shaft, and started running the fuel and brake lines. Also picked up my frame last week, will be drilling the floors and bulkheads this week and getting them off to the powder coater. Placed an order for BC racing coilovers with 6kg/4kg springs and custom valving to match the weight of the car. Those will be done in about 6 weeks.

Got the frame bolted on today! But kind of bittersweet because it turns out the turbo doesn't fit well with this manifold. The downpipe though fits great. I'll be selling the mani/dp on miataturbo and then looking for another option. Turbo too close to the shock support and the wastegate interferes with the front bodywork. But the downpipe is perfect I'm going to see if maybe a regular log style manifold will work. In the meantime I've got plenty else on the car to keep me busy.

Just need to add the inline filter and change out the pump then the fuel lines will be complete. Also need to add another set of p-clamps along the edge of the tank.
