Ever think about cutting an inch or so off the metal water tube under exhaust to get that hose away from the down pipe closer to the dip stick..

I have moved in further away trick of the camera means it looks closer to the downpipe than it is.

Long time no posting have had some issues with reliability and running issues which meant I missed the first rd. But with a trip down to mtech which set it up reliable state as the turbo is blowing a bit of oil out at high revs. At 6psi its running 190bhp.
2nd rd after a successful test at llandow where all went well and made the trip up to blyton on sunday.
Quick report from the 2nd rd of the javelin sprint series. Early morning start for the long treck to blyton park arrived signed in scruiternering done was all set ready to go for my first proper sprint event. Aims for the day was get in top 10 overall and 1.10 lap time Sighting laps and practice lap done time to get started on the timed laps.
1st timed lap was a steady but good start of 1.13.29. 2nd timed lap and acheived my goal with a 1.10.23 lap 3 and 4 were slower due to mistakes lap 5 being the 2nd run after lunch sun was shinning grip building and more heat into the tyres meant i went under the 1.10 with 1 1.09.39. Brimming with confidence lap 6 came quick but a mistake with hitting a cone meant a void run and needing some on track fixes. Damage being bent wheel arch stays onto the tyre. Was allowed to run without it being a sprint so of comes the arch and wing stays and quick turnaround to lap 7. Lap 7 not expecting much but threw caution to the wind and totally unexpected managed to beat that time with a 1.08,75 which would be my quickest time of the day. Overall result meant i finished 10th overall out of 69 car and 2nd in class with first being top overall. If anyone is thinking about this series get involved its huge fun.

Would be good if you could post the event details in the MEV Racing board as well.

Would be good if you could post the event details in the MEV Racing board as well. I did start a thread on there very little interest so will keep this one updated for all interested.

I was thinking along the lines of a thread for the specific event only or perhaps the series but concentrating on the day itself.
That way members who are thinking about entering competitions can home in what happened on the day or what is involved in a series.
It is more likely to attract visitors from other models as well as then it becomes an event post rather than an model post.
Nothing wrong in posting in both areas of course.

Turbo came back from being reconditioned bolted it back on and has sorted the burning oil issue. Few more things to do and them back down to m-tech to start upping the boost levels.

Well after starting it up this week the smoking issue has returned so looks like head will need to come off compression is good so don't think its the rings. But all that can wait 3rd round of the sprint series is this weekend car is loaded and the truck is too for the long drive 270miles to croft.
Aiming for top 10 again the long straights might not suit the car to good but its also a handling track and so big braking zones which will suit the car well.

Well what a weekend long drive up to croft on the sat 277 miles infact, left the trailer and car at the circuit and drove over to the hotel for a good nights sleep. Arrived at the track 7.30 sign in car through scruitneering, briefing done all set for the sighting laps. 2 laps behind a pace car to check track condition which seemed ok so straight on to the ar1 for the full day. 1 practice run which went well and everyone got through without issue. Then down to the action first run banked in a ok time of 1.38.65 with my class b2 opposition in a catheram r500 doing a 1.39.78. Both of use mess up run 2 so both voids. Run 3 and 4 dont really improve down to 1.38.47 while my rival down in the 1.37.65. Lunch then so time to grab a bit to eat check the car over and have a chat with a few people. Then onto run 5 temps climbing track getting more rubber down and now the times start to fall. Some advice from Stewart Mutch which on lines saw the times star to fall. Run5 1.37.11 At this point im ahead of my rival next 2 runs 1.37.03 then run 6 break into the 1.36.92. With run 6 and 7 finished im ahead by 0.5s felling confident and with some more advice go for it on run 8. Good start but missed the braking zone going into sunny in which messing things up for sunny out off the track and almost smashing into the barrier. Look at the leader board and my rivial just put in a 1.36.40. So last run of the day with nothing to lose and everything ive learned from the day i just go for, i start my last run 1 car infront of my rival so this is it. Lined up and waiting for the start lights go green and nail the start get the first section done and feeling good got tower spot on which leads to the flat out jim clark essex get to sunny in nail the braking point but grass is all over the entrance of the corner from a previous runner. Got through it aced the last 4 corners then put my foot down to get over the line. Wait for the time 1.36.03 am now ahead just waiting for my rival 20s behind to come across can see its a quick lap everyone waits to see the time come up its his quickest but just 2 tenths of mine with a 1.36.26. With no other class cars ive got first in class and with the closest margin of any class in the day and a trophy to go with it as well. Overall was 6th 0.2 behind the quickest 2wd car a lotus elise s1 and the top 5 all being high power 4x4 car is a hugely impressive day. First win and trophy in just my 2nd sprint round anglesy next and with more power to come going for a overall win as the 4x4 guys arent competing.

Well quick update rd4 at Anglesey is this weekend, been busy with the car the smoking issue has ended so was time to up the boost level so a trip down to mtech automotive and plumbed in the boost controller and set the 2nd setting up to 11psi which is now running at 220bhp at the flywheel.
Booked in for a track day last of the year at pembrey to check the running and what an animal so much more power and was the quickest car there and with a lap times in the low 1.05 and could of gone even quicker its not that far off lap times of btcc cars that went around there in the 90s.
Since then have added a complete flat floor and a diffuser on the rear to try and improve the aero on the car if it works though is another point all together. The entry list had a few late additions one including a r1 powered jedi which if all goes well will win so if I continue my progress and beat my 6th place at croft overall and get in to the top 5 be happy and if I leave with a top3 be over the moon with the result.

Good work, I wish the Javelin series would move slightly further south!
These cars are so suitable for sprint racing, I think more people should have a go, you'll enjoy it and I drive to the events so you don't need a trailer.

Can't agree more, it is awsome fun and, in my opinion, beats even track days.
Are there no club events on closed public roads in the UK?

There was a change in the law that allows it but, apart from Rallying there is very little closed road racing. Notwithstanding what I've just said, I'm racing on a closed road in Brighton in a few weeks.
The U.K. does have plenty of circuits and in the summer I reckon I can find somewhere to race most weekends.
