Has anyone fitted a Subaru engine in the Sonic or Rocket?

It defo won't fit in the back of a rocket as it's a longitudinal design with it's gearbox so I doubt it would fit in the back of a Sonic either.
If you look at the SDR the gearbox sticks right out the back so that the engine sits behind the driver and the gearbox aligns with the rear wheels.
Possibly extending the chassis at the rear would allow it to fit in.

Cheers I just wondered why it hadn't been an alternative consideration, I suppose if the engine was supplied prior to chassis build, it could be worked into it, just a thought as I like the sound and performance they give, but don't want an Impreza :-)

Depends on the measurements but I'd expect it to push the driver too far forwards.
That said another builder you know where has extended his engine bay on a rocket.

I've extended my engine bay to take the engine and diff, so can't see why it can't be done for Scooby lump.
