Thanks. I have seen that page, it was the spec and cost of the motor, controller and batteries I was after.

Sorry hadnt realised we had not put that info up yet. The motor/controller I used is 11/27kw@216v A.C This is mated to a 6-1 diff that takes it to 60mph as the motor spins up to 6000rpm happliy. The GM EV 1 did 11000rpm. The set costs £4000 and batteries £1200, but lithium would increase the range from 50 with Lead to possibly a 100 mile range. They would cost 10x the price though. The controller has a regenerate facility to recapture energy normally wasted when braking. Its great fun to drive, picks up very quickly and is almost silent although on the vid clip the gears sound noisy. All you hear is tyre noise, its has a Sci-Fi feel to it. I love it but you have to be into it as it would take a while to get your money back on fuel saving. Free road tax and charging on E7 means around 0.5p per mile. The other good news is that the test fee is only £104 as its classed as a heavy quadricycle. Regards Stiggy

Thanks for the details. I am happy with the 50 mile range. I will start saving! Chris

Stuart,
I'm guessing you have 18 batteries in series, correct? What size batteries did you use? Thanks.

Ours has a 13kw pack so we are expecting up to an 80 mile range at a steady 40mph. Couldn't say for sure as we havn't finished yet.

what is the charge time from flat to 'drive another 50 miles'? also is there an amount of times they can be recharged before they need to be replaced? £1200 is alot but i guess you never need to worrie about the cost of a cam belt change, blown head gasket etc etc :-)

Sorry for the delay in responding, I didn't notice this q. We suggest it is charged overnight then it costs the equivalent of a 600mpg ICE. Or just under one p per mile.
