Ok, so I'm still having an issue with the frame and trying to save some coin. I really like the black on black idea for the Busa. .. buuuut. I just thought about a Gulf Livery theme. Think this would work with a gold frame?

Play carefully, a couple of hundred here or there is nothing in the scheme of things, but if you have your heart set on a mevabusa and the kit sells to someone else how will you feel?

I know right.... With every Mev vehicle, it is a want car.. not a need.
So if it is a Want car.. should you get exactly what you want?
But I do think a Gulf Livery theme Mevabusa would be pretty neat.

Oh, I'm all for getting what you want, I just worry you may miss out if it's over a few hundred...
I love blue and orange, my sonic will be bloodhound colours but I think gulf in a mevabusa would work well. If you go gold though, match the wheels!

Yeah, will the gold frame, blue paint and orange stripe look good together? Or should I do the orange into a gold stripe?.... then is it really a Gulf Livery then?
By the way, thanks for the back and forth chat... much appreciated.

Mock something up in photo shop or gimp. Google image search for a base mevabusa to work with.
It will give you an idea of the way the colours will work with the frame etc

I am normally an advocate of getting in there and buying if that is what your heart is set on, never mind the cost if we are talking a few hundred bucks. Mawdo81 will vouch for this, however his was a special case as the Sonic was about to be discontinued.
In your case though, have you got the kit sorted? Have you struck a deal over the re coating? I would still be attempting to do a deal over this but not to the point of becoming a nightmare customer as you may need assistance from Dove down the line.
When you know you have it and what you have to live with or change then you will be in a much better place to make colour choices. If they won't come to the party on a deal I would even be tempted to build it in the original colour then, if you don't grow into it, change it later. That way all the parts have been made to fit and you can strip and rebuild with less chance of powdercoat scratches etc.
Remember, like Sammy and his weight target, your thread title also sets a target - four months......... tick tock tick tock.

Thanks again for all the advice and opinions. The 4 month mark I set assuming I had to order the kit and have it shipped form across the pond. Since Dove has this one already, I'm not in such a time crunch. I'll want it done by April of 2016. Living in the North of the US, the snow starts to fall in Nov and doesn't really let up until end of April / middle of May. I'll see if my buddy could get on the photoshop for me. Original color was a gold frame and lime green bodywork.. Ugh. I chatted with Dove today and we came up with a decent deal. 26,500 USD or 16,971 GPB - Mevabusa KIB with Hayabusa dismantled by Dove Racing
- Re-powder coated and painted Black on Black.
Bonus items that's on the kit not normally there. - Stainless Steel Exhaust System including catalytic converter - 695 USD or 445 GPB
- Infinitely variable camber adjusters on top and lower rear wishbones - 395 USD or 253 GPB
If I decide to have him NOT re-coat the frame or repaint the body work the final price would be 25,900 USD or 16,588 GPB Additional charge that I know I'll want is a MOMO steering wheel and removable hub. 350 USD or 224 GPB Thoughts on the deal at hand?

You never mentioned the lime green! That is a bit extreme on gold Good deal? That is entirely up to you as you are in the best position to know what the value is based on the local market.

I was thinking more along the lines of valuing the parts in the box v sourcing them individually. The NZ market is such that most things are double here, if even available, compared to UK so box made sense.
I imagine USA prices are lower and parts more readily available so does the total cost of the box represent good value for money and are the parts equal to your choice in terms of quality etc?

I see. I guess for me, it makes sense still. I value my time a lot. I think I'll be spending more time finding parts than its worth it.
I did forget to mention the KIB would be without rims and tires. That's how I got the cost of the re-powder coating down.
Rims and tires wouldn't be hard to find anyway.
