Engine back from the machine shop- now a whopping 1.9 litres. Setting ring gap. Screwed up twice on the top ring and made the gap too big. This is one job where a lot of patience is needed. If you do it right, you need to take your time. If you screw up like I did, you need to wait another week for the replacements to come in. IMAG0555 by kenjfox, on Flickr

V8 Roadsters' adjustable upper ball joints. The powercoating shop pressed out the old ones for me, which was great, but I needed to weld the new ones in. Some paint is in order. IMAG0564 by kenjfox, on Flickr

Reassembling roller skate. FM Happy Meal stage 2 clutch there. Started doing left leg presses at the gym to prepare. Heat shield in the tunnel. Used some leftover HVAC foil tape on the seams. It is not sticking as well as it needs to. Will revisit with some hi temp adhesive spray. IMAG0734 by kenjfox, on Flickr Ran brake line through tunnel- used gobs of silicone at top of tunnel to keep it there. The run is fairly short - just to the proportioning valve. Ready to lower the frame with the help of daughter #2. (She thinks I'm building her first car, so she's helping a lot). IMAG0737 by kenjfox, on Flickr Rollerskate ready... IMAG0741 by kenjfox, on Flickr Hey it looks like a car! Okay it looks like a hoarder's car that was TP'd during Halloween. IMAG0745 by kenjfox, on Flickr Front subframe bolts took some coaxing, but all-in-all the fit was pretty good.

Not sure if this happened to anyone else, but the "captive" nut for the lower rear shock mount came loose. At first I thought I needed to get a new lower control arm. Luckily I just had to sacrifice a pair of locking pliers. (referenced nut is in lower part of picture- not the one with glasses) IMAG0747 by kenjfox, on Flickr There is a small gap in front of the hole the shock goes in. There is just enough room to fit a ground down vice grips and grab hold of the nut. IMAG0751 by kenjfox, on Flickr

Front shocks are a tight fit. This may be just due to camber since everything is loose. May need to make some room on the A-arm if not. IMAG0755 by kenjfox, on Flickr

Parking brake lever and proportioning valve installed. I went against mfg advice and disassembled the prop valve so I could use a smaller mounting hole. IMAG0764 by kenjfox, on Flickr

Rear end hit was worse than expected. Cherry picker came in handy here. Hi Ken. Your pics are appearing as very small thumbnails, so you may be doing what I started to do, and that's insert an image hosted on your own PC. There's an instructional on embedding links to pics which have to been uploaded an hosted elsewhere, somewhere like Photobucket.com.

Hi Fin,
Thanks for the heads-up. Seems to be something related to permissions on my google drive.

Hey Ken! I'm in Oceanside. I started about 3 months ago and in the wiring hell stage. Already driven it around the block a few times though. We should meet and share ideas.
