Hey Stu! Great build so far! How do you like the NRG seats? I'm trying to decide which seats I go with, and those were one of the ones I was looking at. They seem like a good option for a really reasonable price. Do they seem to fit well?

Price was the main reason I went with them. They are the fiberglass ones and they seem pretty solid, flex a bit. The brackets line up exactly with the factory sliders. The brackets allow a bit more flex and give than I was expecting, but once belted in with the harnesses, they are much more solid. They are a fairly snug fit, but I have the original tunnel design, so they should fit fine in the new design. I'd say there are much better seats out there, but I couldn't pass up trying these for the price. They are also wide enough for my fat ass to fit in them...

All I need to do is sort this mess out, add fluids, and Poof is ready to be fired up! Poor thing has no idea what its future holds...

Hey there,
Im looking at these seats as well, but looking at what size fits. Im assuming i'd need the large size as im a big guy. What size are those you have?

Ummm...... Mine were the FRP-311. Guessing that means they were the medium ones. Honestly, they are just about the biggest that could fit in the old chassis. Not sure if the larges would fit in mine, may fit in the new chassis. My fat ass still has to squeeze into the ones I have a bit, but they are a better fit for me than some of the more expensive seats that fit in the old chassis. If you were closer I'd have you stop by for a beer and a fitting...

She has a pulse! She is wired. I still have a bunch of wires to eliminate, but I want to make sure she starts before I go plucking wires...

Ask and you shall receive (sort of). The first start video isn't great, so how about the first drive to seat the rings?

I don't think I can embed the video using Dropbox, so you all will have to click to see it...

I haven't looked into this yet but figured I would ask anyways. How did you reset your odometer?

By having a handful of beers one cold winter evening, and saying "what happens if I...."
I'll message you what I did, probably not something to share publically since roll backs are illegal on pretty much everything else except kit cars in the States. Didn't take any pictures of it, since I didn't really think to at the time.

Send me the info on the rollback as well it seems like it would make sense after taking the time to build it. Your first drive video got me so pumped!!!!!!!!!!! I can wait till my kit gets here. ugh!

Nothing too interesting, but here are some recent things: I'm using a regular U1-7 battery. It's the same size case as an actual Miata battery, but weighs way less. Haven't seen anyone use a battery box yet, so here is mine. Ironically enough, the brand name of the box is NOCO... I put the rest of the bulkhead/firewall panels in. I was advised a long time ago to buy a pneumatic riveter for this project. I now see why it was recommended... For those asking if the seats fit, they still do, but definitely rub on the transmission cover. Not terrible, and I can live with it, but for those wondering, yeah, the seats kinda fit with everything. Finally, the gas pedal almost fit on it's own. I did have to give it a tug to bend it just a tiny bit to not hit the transmission cover at WOT. Lights arrived today. Gonna copy Steadfast on his windshield mount. Then I have to wait to see when I'll get my body work. Sill have a bunch of wires to remove between now and then.

Been working on the car but haven't been good about taking pictures. Most of the stuff is little details that almost everyone else has covered. I did realize today how much time I spend driving around trying to find parts only to have them give me a confused look, grab their keyboard, and ask "What's it for?" NAPA so far has been outstanding. Just got my 90* fuel filler hose from them today, without them even touching a computer until I was paying. Anywho...
I picked up my body panels last week from UPS. I never received any of the body mount hardware the newer chassis uses, so I rolled my own. Took a page out of the off-road world, and ordered mounts designed for fiberglass body panels from Autofab. The black part is urethane and the tab, bolt, and nut came with it. Wish I found these way back when I had a bare chassis. Would have just welded the tabs on then. They are really simple and work great.
With the tank cover mounted, I could finally attach my rear lights. I've been waiting to do these forever. Ordered them from Australia. Yes, seriously, Australia. Here's their website page for the lights: www.s3performance.com.au/brand/ImpactLED They weren't that expensive, even with shipping. They responded to my emails quickly and pretty sure I received them in a shorter timeframe than many of my States based orders. Absolute best part is they wire up exactly like the factory taillights. Which reminds me, if anyone has the plugs from their donor car's taillights that you aren't going to use/sell, I'd take a pair of them with a bit of wire still attached so I can attach them to these tail lights...

Anyone else make the journey to Flyin Miata's Summer Camp? Pending any major catastrophes, the Exocet should be out on track tomorrow...
