hello all, just took the plunge today and bought a brand new 2.0 16v zetec engine of ebay for my rocket when I order it! I dont want to rush the build and want to prepare for it by getting all the parts prior to the kit arriving. Just wandering if anybody can give me a starter list of parts I'll need from their own build experience? ? Any help much appreciated, Cheers, Finn

Thats not a simple question, a lot of it depends how much you will use from the donor and if the donor has all the right parts, such as the right radiator, rear callipers etc. Also the plumbing and electrics depends on where you mount your switches and expansion bottle.
some of the stuff i bought is listed below, but you really need to sit down with the build manual and the list of stuff that comes with the kit and draw up a list. it is also a useful budgeting excersise.
Seats Seatbelts Seat runner Exhaust components Manifold from donor Cat - from donor Wiring loom from donor pedal assy with balance bar & 3 cylinders pipes clips rivits 400 x 5mm screws sealant nuts & bolts Zetec donar gearbox inlet manifold alternator waterpump ECU Engine loom drive shafts fromt hubs radiator (non aircon) engine mounts fuel pump fuel guage sender header tank brake fluid resivoor flexi brake pipes diagnostic port steering column switch gear ignition lock and wheel rear calipers hand break cables gear lever cables wheels tyres battery rear disks rear pads gear lever (post 98 mondeo) electrinonic dashboard steering wheel 12' long throttle cable air filter assy wing mirrors brake pipe brake pipe fittings tax disk holder gear lever gater ring hand brake lever gater ring nut covers Hoses (19 or 25mm for Vapor temp sender) may need adapters Wheel bearings hand brake cable
I am sure others will point out what i have missed.
Cheers

In addition to Matt's list you will need a flywheel from a 1.8L Zetec and clutch to match. Sell the 2.0L clutch and flywheel unless you have other long term plans for the engine.
Your gearbox will also need to be from the 1.8L Focus (due to starter motor location) as the 2.0L MTX gearbox does not fit the standard chassis (unfortunately).
You will also need to make a return pulley for the aux drive belt and relocate the belt tensioner.

You're right Gaz, finn could fit the 6 Speed box to the 2.0L engine, (ST170). I'm not sure but this should allow the use of the existing flywheel & clutch. This box is the Getrag MT285 (6 speed) and is much smaller than the 2.0L MTX (5 Speed) box which I believe does not fit.
You may also need the ST170 driveshafts if fitting the 6 speeder.

Guys, thanks for all you help here. The last few days I've been buying all the bits I need for the back end. I was going to ask if I could use the ST170 gearbox and it looks like I can so question answered.
Joker - can you tell me a wee bit more about the return pulley for the aux drive belt and relocating the belt tensioner,, or has anyone else done this and have a picture??

Thanks Brownie, I'll wait for the build manual and everything else to arrive to get a better idea of the car.

Maybe best to look at the build manual but in the meantime here's mine. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the return pulley fitted as it is located on the block (CAT Side) and is difficult to photograph. I have mounted the Focus tensioner in it's original position but some mods have been made to the return spring position. Nice and compact though.
