Took my TR1ke out for only its second run out on Sunday as the weather was unusually nice for this time of year - about 5 minutes in came to a junction and it conked out - then wouldn't fire up - managed to get it started after about 10 minutes and decided to get it back to the garage, proceeded to stall at low speed and during gear changes until I got it back on the drive - then found this hanging off the engine - completely detached and draped over the space frame - now having been away from bikes for a good few years now - can anyone point me in the right direction for fixing the problem? ? thanks in advance

Are you carb'd ? It's looks like an overflow pipe from a carb and if so it wouldn't course stalling I doubt. Or it could be a vacuum pipe from somewhere and that would play it up, but I can't think where from sorry

Yes it looks like the airbox drain with that slant on the one end or maybe an overflow pipe from the carb. Have you checked out your angle cut off switch & kickstand switch?

Evening,
What sort of engine derivative have you got? I've got a 5VY engine (injection) and that pipe looks similar to the overflow that came out of the expansion tank on the bike. If one end is cut at an angle, on mine it meant it wasn't attached to anything and was either juts a breather or dumped something (like coolant overflow) on the road.
Cheers, Richard.

Hi Richard - mines a 5vy as well - so may well be the same - will check the expansion tank.
Thanks Chris

Morning,
If it is just the overfill pipe it won't be the cause of the issues you describe. What RPM does your engine idle at? After the engine is hot, the manual says it should be about 1,250 to 1,500 rpm. I had a similar issue and this made some difference.
However, the problem raised it's ugly head again last weekend and the engine just stopped. There were no error codes logged but when I Googled the fault I ended up reading lots of pages about a factory recall for a dodgy throttle position sensor (TPS). This can be tested in Diag mode but wanted to be sure so I got some replacement throttle bodies off Ebay. Just need a decent day so I can go testing.
Cheers, Richard.

Morning Richard Mine idles just below 1500rpm once warmed up. - I will have to get the TPS tested by the sounds of it and see if thats the problem. Bloody frustrating as only had it out twice - and as I am disabled its not easy for me to do all this stuff myself so will have to wait until my good samaritan mate is free !! Cheers Chris
