Wait since it's a race chassis, wouldn't the race officially be on when the chassis is dropped onto the roller skate?

www.instantrimshot.comI was thinking through the sequence of events today and this is what I came up with. We're in the process of moving, we should be into the new house in about a month. Said house has a nice shop that would make a nice paint booth with some plastic. I'm thinking that I'll drop the chassis onto the roller and get all of the necessary holes (seats, mirrors, side panels, etc) drilled out and ready to go, then pull it off, paint it, and drop it back on and start the real assembly. Anyone see an issue with that? One more question, does anyone paint the bulkheads and/or trans tunnel? They seem to be the high wear areas so I'm not sure it's worth it.

I powdercoated my bulkheads and trans tunnel. Not sure if that was a good idea or not...

Yeah, I'm on the fence. I don't think I'll paint them, scuffed bare aluminum looks fine whereas scratched painted aluminum looks meh.
Just ordered the bulk of the remaining small bits. Mirrors, signals, tail lights, headlight brackets, turn signals, etc. Running out of storage space, looking forward to getting everything installed and out of the way.

I powder coated mine simply because that silver reflects a lot of sunlight and was worried I would get roasted and blinded by sunlight.

I'm planning on grip tape to help with that a bit but I see your point.
Unrelated, has anyone considered putting a GTC-200 in the front of a race chassis like Exomotive does with the COT wing? I've still got the universal fit one in the shed, no bites to buy it locally yet so I'm considering other options.

I powder coated mine simply because that silver reflects a lot of sunlight and was worried I would get roasted and blinded by sunlight. Leaning that way on my trans tunnel also, as I still have "fond memories" of the underlegs sunburn from a long-ago trip down a Wisconsin river in an aluminum canoe. Didn't see that coming !
Floor panels are going to remain uncoated, but scuffed up with a Scotchbrite pad in my case.

Spacers are here, a tad lighter than expected. Decent fit/finish, a compromise but such it is.

Exciting update! MIRRORS!!!!! Went a slightly different route than others, so far so good. Thrilling progress, I know. We close on a new house in 3 weeks so I'm trying to figure out what I should do. My thought is put it all together sans paint and electrical so I can roll it onto my trailer, move it to the new house, then pull the chassis for paint. I'm hoping to mock up the steering and pedals tonight so I can mount the drivers seat.

What seats are you using? I just mounted my drivers and I am now waiting on the passenger side to show up so I can have this thing coated. Congrats on the new house.

Mounted up the chassis so it'll be easier to move this weekend. 9 of 10 bolts went in easy peasy. Number 10 was a mofo. It'll come back apart soon so I can properly clean the chassis and hopefully swap some bushings too. Then back together for fit up of everything and drilling of necessary holes, back apart for paint, and back together for "final" assembly. If such a thing exists.
