At Christmas the obligatory old family pictures came out, and lo and behold, my first 'kit car' which just about made it down the paved bit of this hill. About '88/'89 I think.

What the Americans call a "soap-box", Geordies call a "bogie". As kids we used to pester mothers with toddlers for their pram wheels, then bend 4" nails to make staples to hold the axles onto the wooden frame. We didn't bother with seats or a rope to steer - we lay down with hands on the front beam to steer and then shoot down the hills. One lad lost a couple of finger ends having failed to remove his hands when crashing - the good old days, before the advent of collapsible buggies!

Before the advent of H&S and Fun Police. "I'm sorry young man unless you fill out the following forms in triplicate you cant possibly be allowed to have fun"

I do enjoy reading these kinds of threads/posts, instils a good sense of community in my opinion.
I post my offering, with a degree of trepidation as having over the last few months involved myself in many of the forums threads pertaining to vehicle dynamics and steering geometry, never the less we all had to start somewhere.
I wonder do I still pull such faces when driving?

An "exo" owner from way back Nigel. I can see a lot of influences in there for the design of a certain Mr. Mills - I hope he has forwarded the applicable royalty payments to you. By the way please change the autocorrect for "Exo" to stay "Exo" please
