My first attempt was a disaster. I tried to fix bubbles with heat and well, that didn't work. Second try went great. I took it slow and used just a bit of heat. The 2" angle aluminum is working out great as a temporary solution for the filler support and lighting bracket. I may send it off to somebody else to use once my bodywork is installed. Dibs?

Dibs? Sure but you have to update your signature with donor info and chassis number.

Well I went and did something that will either be brilliant or really stupid. I was on eBay looking at who knows what and stumbled across a set of mirrors from an Indy car. They are used and from an older style car maybe even an Indy lights car but they are kind of awesome and full carbon fiber. They weigh in at exactly 1 pound each. The mirror surfaces have a couple of chips and I don't know if they can be replaced or not. No idea how I am going to mount them to the car. I think I might have to mount them to the hood somewhere, but without bodywork its hard to tell. I think I will go out and make a quick test bracket to see how they look on the car.

Those are neat. One of the things I like about the exocet is while they're all so similar, they are all nothing alike.

I went out and did my first SCCA autocross today. Things I learned: 1. I do not need a turbo. 2. That is some serious fun. 3. The car deserves a better driver but will suffer a being driven by a fool. (unlike superbikes) 4. So much fun.

No news about body panels other than in January when I picked up my frame they expectes them to be ready in 2-3 months. In March they were about 6-8 weeks. In April they were 4-6 weeks. I expected mid May from that one... Here it is almpos the middle of June and I am still waiting. If they ever ship they are supposed to be RAL7031 Blue Grey. It should match the frame pretty closely.

Do you have any plans to be at any events or tracks where I could come see your car? I love the build and I want to see it in person. I'm in North Alabama, but I would make the trip down South.

I'd be curious to check it out as well - I will be in Destin in 2 weeks, and the following weekend I'll be near Rockford, AL on Lake Mitchell.
