Hello MEV community,
first hello to all of you. I'm a reader of the forum since a while and interested in the tr1ke.
My question may be a simple one...I hope: The weight of the tr1ke is about 330 kg according to the specs. Is that with or without a driver? I've read different informations on that.
Kind regards Tom from Germany

Hi Tom
That is without a driver mate.

Welcome Tom
A genuine 330kg would be without a driver, and even that would require lightweight parts + no unnecessary extras. Mine was 320kg last time I weighed it, and Andy7b has his at 310kg or maybe less.

Most tR1kes are around 350 to 380 kg. Empty.... That is up to 20% in weight difference. I've thought there are only a few components, that can make a difference like seats and wheels. But 60kg? Kind regards, Tom

Hi Tom, On the tR1ke forum there are more leads about weight and weight saving. Search for "unsprung weight".
Anyhow by choosing your components you can select them by weight: Seats, wheels, wheel hubs, aluminium or carbon parts, reverse motor + battery, foot pedals, wiring, exhaust...
You can go as extreme in weight saving as you have money in your wallet.
Personally I am not driving to the limit where every kg counts. With the current weight the tR1ke is already idot fast. So weight saving is relative.

The reverse system is a large chunk of weight, with the motor and a big enough battery and wiring it's probably around 25kg. The seats are another biggy, the ones from RTR are just fibreglass ( and very comfy) or some go for nice leather clad buckets, again another 10kg's. A Klictronic gear shift is another chunk with the wireing and gibbons to go with it. So it's easy to add 60kg without even realising. Andy

A Klictronic gear shift is another chunk with the wireing and gibbons to go with it. Yeah, those gibbons are hefty primates. Perhaps a chimp might be a better bet (bit smaller, make a nice cup of tea.....) Martin

Oops :-) I'm blaming predictive text as I use my phone, but then again a small primate could be useful for those hard to reach places :-)

I'm sure the perfect power plant is the Rotax 990cc with built in reverse, now sourcing one of these might be the issue. But I might indeed be going down the Can-Am Spyder route, but not to strip down for a kit :-) This thread is all about the average weight of our tR1kes nick

Mine weighs 356 kgs. But I do have an extra battery, reverse drive system, electrical gear change, adjustable and comfortable seats, extra fuel pumps and more extra's. I guess if you build it as light as possible you could go to about 300 kgs. Lighter wheel hubs are also available at RTR.
