Hi all,
Bit stuck lining up bonnet and nose cone and can't find any info/pics to help so if anyone can help, i'll be beer voucher grateful !
1) is the the bulkhead end of the bonnet designed to 'hook over' the top bulk head bar?
2) if so, I don't have enough clearance for the cam position sensor. If I lift the front of the bonnet to clear the sensor, I end up with 10mm high gap along the front bonnet edges for about 200mm up.
3) this is making trial fitting the nose cone rather tricky... Should it butt up to the end of the frame or is it designed to slightly cover the end of the frame tube section ? If I do this, anti roll bar cut outs are way out...
I understand there will be trimming and fetlling but I can't seem to get near to a reasonable fit...
Been a breeze up till now but am a bit stuck ! Thanks all

Yes, it's a pig. It does hook over the bulk head tube, a bit. Extra clearance can be achieved when the bonnet has trim edging on 3 sides. Have a look at my build: Fit is best described as poor. Neither component is symmetrical (how can the bonnet come out of the mould 8mm longer on the right than on the left?). Nose cone has a wavy edge where it meets the bonnet and the curves of the bonnet and nose cone where they mate are different. Thanks for the encouragement !
What an arse of a job ! Seems like the nose cone is on the piss cause I just can't get it to line up equally... It's like the whole cone needs to twist over at the top but stay put at the bottom. I've mocked up with self tappers and am going to leave it for a few days to see if it settles into position any better... I think this is one of those jobs I'll be re-visiting a few times !

The bonnet is not intended to fit over the dash tube, if you try to do this you will be pulling and twisting and you will be lucky if you make it work. Builders tended to struggle fitting the twin nose due to the reinforcing steel in the sides, this may need trimming back. Some builders also seem to struggle with the bonnet when hinging from the front. Best to hinge from the rear using a pair of 4" stainless steel door hinges with brass inserts to stop rattle. We usually find that the builders who have problems have either mounted the radiator too low (needs to be as high as possible) or too far forward or have not fitted rubber trim (from MX5 boot lid) to the bonnet edge which will raise it by approx 12 mm.

Superb, thanks Stuart. I'll look to move the rad mount brackets nearer and higher up today. Cheers for the link above, will be getting a pair of them too.
