Hello member's, i hope you don't mind this random post. My dad, brother and myself have been wanting to build a kit car for a number of years, and now it's becoming a reality. We are a very close family who want to spend more time together on something which will put smiles on our faces. Last weekend we purchased an MX5 1.8 donor car ready for the journey to begin. Our budget is healthy, we are wanting to do a nice thorough classy looking job, possibly adding a supercharger for that extra bit of poke. The car will be driven by all 3 of us for weekends in the sun and trackdays. We have agreed on the Exocet as our choice of toy! Any hints, tips, recommendations would be very greatly received. The car will be based in Colchester, Essex. Once done we hope to meet up with other MEVs at shows and track days. Please feel free to message me on here, we are 3 kitcar virgins who would appreciate any type of help/advice. Kind regards Ian

Welcome aboard.. Spend more money and get the most rust FREE car you can find. It will save time and nerves later.. Read about other builds.. Ask questions.. Label and pic while working.. 6 point sockets, large breaker bar, multi meter, keep work place clean, get a repair manual for your year, put year and engine size of donor in your profile and in threads and posts.. Get it built/running then cut your harness if you are going to.. Again ask questions. Make a plan.. Here are links to cars for info and wires lay outs.. www.mellens.net/mazda/www.miataforumz.com/miata-wiring.phpThere was a problem with the VTT valve on top of the cam cover on the engine on 2002 and newer MX5s clearing the bonnet don't know if that has been addressed on UK kits.. Have fun walk away when you have to clear your head.. Start a build thread in the Exocet section.. Check out the link to Miata.net go to the Garage Section on bottom of page lots of info on working on the MX5 forum.miata.net/vb/index.php I am on this forum too under same name gwnwar..

Brilliant thank you very much. Well we've cracked on with stripping the donor at the weekend, it looks in very good shape.
So we've been discussing getting abit more power in the form of a Turbo, any advice on good kits, second hand options?
Cheers.

Build your own from parts out there or go with Flying Miata unit.. I am sure others will chime in.. Maybe with a parts list and cost.. But I would build and get it all IVA before modding it..
