Spent saturday at RAF Barkston Heath with the Robin Hood owners club. It was a great sprint day. I'll upload a video and report later (I am away with work now using an itouch) but last year I did a 59.7 second lap but this year I was down to 55.7 seconds. Well pleased with that!
Cheers

I went straight from the sprint day to scotland for a few days work, and have just got back, but i have some repairs to do and then i need to catch the midnight ferry for the classic le mans race this weekend. what a rush...
the weekend was great, i was trying some slight changes to my suspension set up, and a am getting more and more confidence in the car. it's the one event in the year that uses timing gear so you can measure the effect of changes to the car. Last year my best time was 59.7 seconds, and since then i have
adjusted the rear toe, adjusted the rear camber fitted different rear springs fitted an induction system changed the seats fitted a brak balance bar fitted shift lights fitted sticky tires for track days
this has all added up t a new lap time of 55.7 seconds
i don't think that was the actual fastest lap but it gives some impression.
the cars that were around me in performance were a robin hood owned by nigel (longboarder) which was fitted with a 2.0 duratech with wild cams etc. Its a lovely car and he had done loads of work on it, but he was always about 1/10 faster than me and there was a yellow westfield that i was close to but i am not sure what engine he had. I was as fast as the second driver in that car, the owner was quite a bit faster than me. i was 7th or 8th out of 15 cars.
a well run day, with lots of passenger laps and loads of solo timed runs. I was getting faster as the day went on, with only two off track moments, the first was a very optimistic breaking point on the first lap of the day, at the end of the main straight. (it's about 70mph, and 40m seamed to slow the car down enough) and the second was exactly the same point but I had received some excellent advice regarding the previous chicane and arrived at a higher speed, but did not break any earlier, so again i went straight on, no harm done though.
A lovely mini with an engine in the back had a spin and needs lots of repair, but no one was hurt.
I had an oil leak in the afternoon, and eventually located the engine mount as the source of the leak. The mount is oil filled and the harsh starts split the mount so oil leaked every where. I ordered a second hand one from ebay and it has just arrived, but it is the wrong one. I'll have to drive to le mans without the oil in it. I hope its OK.
