Hi Jon,
I am sure they are in here somewhere ? I have put them up below:
All the figures are calculated using my wheels - 225 x 50 x 15
Quaife Gear Kit:
1st - 2.58 2nd - 1.86 3rd - 1.42 4th - 1.13 5th - 0.96 Final Drive - 3.857
This gives an RPM drop changing at 7500 rpm:
1st to 2nd = 2093 RPM 2nd to 3rd = 1774 RPM 3rd to 4th = 1532 RPM 4th to 5th = 1128 RPM
Top speed in gear at 7500 RPM
1st = 55 mph 2nd = 75 mph 3rd = 97 mph 4th = 122 mph 5th = 150 mph
Standard IB5 Gearbox ratios:
1st - 3.583 2nd - 1.926 3rd - 1.281 4th - 0.951 5th - 0.756 Final Drive - 4.095
This gives an RPM drop changing at 7500 rpm: 1st to 2nd = 3468 RPM 2nd to 3rd = 2512 RPM 3rd to 4th = 1932RPM 4th to 5th = 1538 RPM
Top speed in gear at 7500 RPM
1st = 37 mph 2nd = 68 mph 3rd = 102 mph 4th = 138 mph 5th = 174 mph (standard focus does not rev to 7500 RPM so would not get to this top end!!)
What was found in the standard IB5 box is that the 1st gear was quite short so became nearly redundant when trying to get off the line quickly and the 5th gear was too tall so when changing into 5th, it was good for cruising but a bit slow in progressing. The quaife gear kit also keeps the rev drop very low. This will keep the revs in the sweet spot when on full throttle and changing up through the gears. The quaife gear set is also alot stronger than the standard IB5 so a little reassurance if you are going for extra BHP and Torque.
Hope that helps
Jon

Good info Jon, it would be good to see how the mtx75 compares Hi Steve, There have been a few builds on here that have used the MTX75 gearbox with good success, and as standard ratios against the IB5 the MTX75 is much better. I did look at the MTX75 but it was a bit heavier so kept with the IB5 as a casing with the Quaife diff and gearkit. I have the ratios for the MTX75 below: Standard MTX75 Gearbox ratios: 1st - 3.417 2nd - 2.136 3rd - 1.483 4th - 1.114 5th - 0.854 Final Drive - 4.060 This gives an RPM drop changing at 7500 rpm: 1st to 2nd = 2812 RPM 2nd to 3rd = 2293 RPM 3rd to 4th = 1866 RPM 4th to 5th = 1750 RPM Top speed in gear at 7500 RPM 1st = 38 mph 2nd = 61 mph 3rd = 88 mph 4th = 118 mph 5th = 154 mph I have kept the RPM range the same as mine just for comparison at 7500 RPM so not sure what you will be revving too at maximum. As you can see the MTX75 has less of an RPM drop through the gears over the standard IB5 by quite a deal, so should be quick thorough the gears !! As you you will turbo charging its going to be quick through the gears anyway but as with the standard IB5 ratios, the first gear is very quick and almost redundant when getting off the line quick. The other good move for the MTX as I am sure you are aware is that the MTX gearbox has a stronger casing and internals than the standard IB5, which for N/A and Supercharging the IB5 should be OK, but the MTX would definatly be better for turbocharging !! Hope this is of any use to you ATB Jon

Jon, awesome info again, kind of confirms one of my projects party tricks I think a better 5th gear ratio would be nice on the mtx75, the ib5 5th gear ratio is awesome. So, what's next Jon?? What are you lining up as the successor. ?

Not sure what I will be doing next We have a house move planned so that is the hold up in getting involved in anything else at the moment. If I was going to build another kit it would be without a doubt a MEVabusa. I have the plans and have done the homework to build a fully sequential car. Again it will be supercharged, carbon and will run at 750-800 BHP/ton on normal fuel and over 1000 BHP/ton on race fuel - the Rocket was just not quick enough ;D It would be seriously quick through the box I have one other thing that I would also like to do which does involve another Rocket and would be a great life experience.

Thanks for the ratios Jon. Need to work out what to do with my c-max box now.

Fully braided accelerator cable installed and awaiting other end to connect too Hi Jon, Did you buy the Venhill accelerator cable ready made / made to measure / a pile of parts? Can't seem to see a made up one on the Venhill site but also can't find the individual parts either Now if I had a motorbike ...........
