Well, this is possibly the last post on the build progress (but I doubt it!!) The car is fully built to my original plan, fettled and to finish the car today the final mapping and power runs of the car took place at Northampton Motorsport. It was a very pleasing session. From the last power runs and mapping for the IVA, the only thing that has changed is the cat being removed and a de-cat pipe fitted. It was mainly precaution to check the mapping again, but better safe than sorry ! As the cat was being removed, it would allow the exhaust gasses to escape more freely and with some slight modifications on the mapping we now have this: Superb !! 309 BHP and 221Ftlb of torque We done a few power runs and on each it made well over the 300 BHP mark - so this was not a one-off. All temps were up fully so this was with true heated inlet temps. The torque curve line is spot-on, very lineir to the power and should make for nice smooth acceleration all the way through the rev range. It runs very smoothly and sounds awesome Chuffed to bits There will be a video to view hopefully in the next couple of days from Northampton Motosport, so will post a link when it is uploaded. Although there is easy scope to gain a further 40+ BHP with work on the head and cams that can be done in the future - I think this will do for now !! See you all at the MEV Curborough 2012 meet TTFN Jon

thats sweet jon, the torque curve is mega, the supercharger has really made it linear, bet its actually very usable. i hope mine looks similar, just wont have the 308

Holy Cow now thats going to be entertaining to watch at the AMM my little baby at 115bhp ish scares the s**t out of me although I am starting to give it full whack a bit more now. Hope your taking a change of undies Jon,and hope nigels video camera has a high speed mode !!

........,and hope nigels video camera has a high speed mode !! Treated myself to a new video cam at Christmas, so I can shoot in full HD 1080 at 50fps ;D, mind you I don’t know if that will even keep up Jon's Rocket. Roll on Curborough nigel

Have you any data yet on intake temperatures on boost that that the ecu reads after the charge cooler? I'm still looking at siting my intercooler, but still torn between charge cooling.

im not fitting cac, i have gone for water injection. i just hope its the right choice.. we shall see if its an expensive mistake, if i have to start re-piping another system in, i chose aquamist for weight reasons.

Hi, yes is the short answer. In forced induction this is a key factor to maintaining charge air pressure and power as you are probably aware. Their have been 2 other engines that I am aware of running this supercharger set-up, but the other 2 were running intercoolers. Both of these engine did not make as much boost as mine which has been investigated and found to be due to the intercooler and the power, pressure, being lost. My charge cooler system, I believe is certainly the best route. On general use we did not see the inlet temp above 32 deg c, and on the dyno when mapping, which is a very extreme environment, we did not see above 42 deg c, so was very pleased. Don't forget, when on a dyno the car is stationary so no cold dense air was being forced down the air inlet, so I would very much assume on track it will never get to 42 deg c. I can monitor the charge air temp on the dash2 so will be good to keep an eye on ! Not sure on the water mist systems for road\track cars as I not sure they will be consistent enough. My understanding of them is for use mainly in short runs, ie, drag racing. Never seen it used on a road\track car and never seen them designed for this but maybe interesting

or a complete didaster john..lol its only a couple of hundred quid as long as the engine is not damaged in the process, im going to map the omex to run the injection from 4500

Great Graph Mr Mabbs, you have 184bhp more than me! not to mention the additional 100ftlb of torque, and my car doesn't strike me as pedestrian. I am looking forward to seeing your car go past the start finish straight at the AMM, it's half way along the main straight so it should be really really impressive.
Looking forward to it

Hi John,
You said the headlights didn't pass IVA, were the rear LED lights ok? Some people have said IVA doesn't like LEDs. I had planned on LEDs on the back of my Exocet and the same headlight as you on the front but in black. Guess I'll have to try and borrow some IVA friendly headlights. Are RTR still doing their IVA service?

I have heard also that some IVA stations do not like rear LED units as they are not bright enough ?? Mine went through without any issues at Nottingham station. Yes RTR are still doing their IVA service. Takes a hell of a lot of the worry away from having to go through the process your self, highly recommended. Jon
