Fitted the new wheels today, they are off a BMW mini and fit straight on with some spigot rings. They are 5.5j so will be fitting some 185/75/15 when these ones wear out.

Need to get the wheel arches made up and then flat floor the car next.

Hi, I spent ages looking at steel wheels and then saw a basic mini and thought the wheels looked great, lo and behold they fit perfectly and are also the width I was after. I reckon these have shaved 40 KG off the un-sprung weight of the car compared to the wires. Really happy with these

Just ordered some cold air trumpets for the front of the car, plan is to duct the radiator and flat floor the whole car so I will be using the side vents to get rid of the hot air via some pipe work which I can always disconnect in winter and run up to the thingy pit in winter if I was feeling brave. Not sure what to do about the side vents yet as it is pre molded it makes things a little tricky so it will have to made up, I was thinking of a couple of louvres as per the original.

Just bought two large NACA ducts for the side vents, I can then blend these in before painting, think I will finish it with an alloy bar across the opening or mould some perspex similar to the ferrari from a similar period in the photo below. Shout now if you think this is a silly idea!!

ok as you asked, I wouldn't go for perspex on the side vents(to remove it they would have to face backwards and would just look wrong), what you could do with the NACA vents is remove the original replicar vents (fill) and then place the NACA vents in their place. Alternatively you could mould the NACA into the existing 'back' face of the vent and simply place two once inch flat ally bars in to 'mock' the original Aston vents whilst painting the back face matt black.

Agreed the Perspex would look wrong , I am going to install the naca ducts and will put some 16 mm bar horizontally across the opening and see how this looks and then maybe and some louvres if it still looks wrong.

I think NACA ducts are designed for air inlets so not sure what they would do on the sides, cool the c**kpit? Or duct air to the rear brakes. It's hard to beat the original AM style vents for getting air out, I've been playing with bits of vertical blind louvers but haven't finalized anything yet. I'm not ambitious enough the make them into functioning vents yet!

Problem with the replicar side vents is that they open up into the footwell so not really an interesting view such as the engine, I am trying to think of a way to open up but still have it sealed so naca duct or cold air trumpets were my thoughts, looking at the original Aston louvres they look like it will need real craftsmanship to knock up which I don't have. I will be really interested in seeing close ups of other peoples efforts .
