The wosp motor on my tR1ke needs repair or replacement. I can't find a model number or what car application it will fit. Being in the USA means I need that info to give to a repair shop. It's part of the kit I bought from Dove Racing LLC. in early 2012 & he has not responded to my calls. Thanks for your HELP & reply. seabee65@embarqmail.com Read more: mevowners.proboards.com/thread/5412/wosp-starter-motor-reverse-tr1ke#ixzz34SQo92P8

I don't think the reverse kit manufacturer would be willing to give info regarding what car model the starter motor is from. Why not have the motor taken apart to find the problem, and then order the part frow wosp.

That's an option I may try if I find a qualified repair service. Thanks Kevin.

My kit sourced from Lynx UK was a re-engineered Subaru Legacy starter, re-geared for a slower operation.

A new looking motor arrived from Pete Dove & now that the 24hrs of Le Mans is over, I'll check it out.

I may have a ground (electrical) problem. Found the new motor to be working, once, then a 10a fuse pops. The fuse is in the spare position of the group & it never broke before the issue of over loading (?) the motor. I was told it may be a bad ground (earth) connection & to attach a wire to the motor & go to the frame that has been scraped clean of powder coating. Any other ideas ?

Starter motors are easily 1000 watts. So with 12 volts, you are draining about 100 Amps from the battery when using the motor.
Or increase fuse up to 200 amps. Or get rid of it, but make a fail safe. Battery short cut causes a lot of heat and possibly ignite a fire.

I'll take Edwin's advice & leave it off until more wire connections are tested. Until then I'll ride the Yamaha Bolt I bought. I missed leaning in the corners up & over "the snake".
