Hello all,
I just ordered some Gaz Gold Pros and want to check I've ordered the correct spring rates, I got them from MX5 parts and went with the 350/250 springs. If they are the wrong type I will change before they get posted out.
What have others fitted on there's and will these do the job? It's not a race car but more for road and the odd track day.
thanks Don

So is what I bought nearly the same? Is 350/250 in any order? I've never had to buy coil overs before so all new to me.
Does the 250 go on the rear and the 350 on the front? What did you do with yours Jgilbert?

Gaz should know, but that sounds pretty stiff in comparison with Kevin's comments a week or two ago. He just replaced the springs on his black demo car for MUCH softer springs...
I'm very interested in this as my car is on new S-spec springs on the front and std rears with std dampers. I can't lower the rear much as the wishbones hit the chassis. It's over-sprung and under-damped at the mo.
BTW, GAZ shocks are excellent - I've got a set of their fixed ride height shocks and springs on an old MX5 - really good.

Well now I am worried, do you know what springs he had on to start with? It was actually absoulote shocks who called me as GAZ passed him my details! he said that the 350/250 springs are fine for road but for the track you will be better with a higher rate.
Can anyone else advise what they have on theirs?
I know J Gilbert said he has 230 /350 is that the same as 350/230? Does it matter what way the numbers are around or is that just to show the rates for the front and rear?
Thanks for putting up with my stupid questions but I'm new to coilovers

This is Kevin's comment from his build thread: Any other Exocet builders using Racelands/Rokkor/similar and unhappy with their spring rates? ME TOO. I found some springs here in the US that can be swapped out - 150 lbs in the front and 100 lbs in the rear is what I am running now. All I can say is that after driving on the Racelands with 300+ lbs rates I fell in love with the car again after making the swap. Definitely an inexpensive option to fix the racelands/rokkors if you have gone that route. Still not perfect, but much more compliant. I will have to email a few people that have them fitted and ask what they have fitted, last thing I want to do is fit them and then realise they are the wrong ones. Thanks for the info.

350/250 is spot on for the exocet in my opinion.
the adjustable dampeners on the GGP mean you can adjust them as you need. I run 9 front and 7 rear and it is very comfy. Think lotus exige comfort mind. Not bentley

Donboy, I've just purchased a set of 350F / 250R Gold Pro's. This spring rating has been recommended by MANY users and also is very close to the optimum recommended by GAZ.

350 is the front. An Exo will be heavier at the front (its where the main components are) plus under braking the dynamic load is travelling forward (this is why the front of a car goes down (compresses) under braking). I suggested Kevin's ratings to Gaz and then told me that the car would bottom out Also dont forget these shocks are ajustable so you will be able to compensate the ride using this. I have a lot of faith in GAZ. Why dont you send a copy of this thread to them for there definite advice?
