Rick, just throwing this out there for your consideration, as your front light mount solution is the most appealing I have seen to date ... any interest in making a second set 'on contract' for me, and if so, at what cost would you consider that? PM me if you'd like, and thanks in advance for considering this.

But, I had a good night autocrossing and did not hit any cones. But, I was not fast enough either:) So no good impact test yet!

d**n! I was hoping the fiberglass would be tough enough to hold the lights. Maybe I will cut a hole in the side, then use the Exocet mounts to hold a threaded rod which will hold the lights. Will need to be removed every time I need to take the hood off but it should look good with a gromet. Why not strengthen the fibre glass sides by either adding a few more layers of cloth on the inside. Or bond onto the inside some ally plates to take and spread the weight of the lights? The fiberglass is very light and thin, other than adding thickness to the whole fiberglass piece(more weight), I think it would just move the breaking part to the edge of any plate. I also am amazed how many times I open a hood now that I have one. It was also nice not having to remove the whole part for tech inspection Saturday. I might add some alum braces later just to take some of the flex away. But, might wait to see what others come up with!

Speaking of weight!
Full tank of gas and all fiberglass pieces attached, with wheel spacers, windshield, stock Miata battery, fenders, stock seats, 1.6 engine and 1.6 rear end. 1566 lbs, or 710 kg, or 112 stones:)

Interesting. For some reason, I would have expected a more front biased weight distribution.
what tips can you pass on regarding cutting the fiberglass? I have read elsewhere about running the hole saw in reverse. Is this true, or is it hogwash? Also, what are you using to make the other cuts? This will be entirely new to me, and I don't want to mess it up!

More beauty shots. Things left to do. A grill, seat belt retractor covers, some side marker lights, and some more chassis turning/adjustable shocks. Maybe plastic dip the fenders in the carbon fiber look.

Okay, race day, first evening autox of the year, need to eat, which car to take, the Exocet of course! Yes, you can go to Taco Bell in an Exocet, but no drink holder:( Wanted to avoid the drive thru, have learned from other trips they want to talk about the car till your food gets cold...
Next stop, Las Vegas Speedway
New alignment is so much better than last event. 2.5 camber in front, zero front toe, 1.5 camber rear, 1/8 rear toe. Drives nice on the highway too. Car was so neutral, but I still cannot bring myself up to using all the adhesion! My son is lighting fast in the slaloms. Our many passengers were amazed!

Mine weighed in at 695kg's for the IVA with all the body panels, full tank, stock battery so very similar.

This will be entirely new to me, and I don't want to mess it up! Lots of tape, measure three times before cutting. I use the hole saw in a battery operated drill and get everything secure and hold the drill straight. High speed and drilling at angles always seems to fail. Then to connect the holes, a dremel tool with a fiber cutting blade(no teeth) and lots of layers of tape. Then some sanding on the edges to get things smooth and straight. Did I mention lots of tape:)

Another night at the Silverton Hotel and Casino. What, no racecar Valet!
Guess we will have to park and drive our own car! We adjusted on the car handling some, we could really use some more torque on these smaller events. The little stock 1.6 works really hard! Ended up third overall. We tuned it into a bit of understeer and tested the cone collection feature. Told them give us another 100 runs we could bring all the cones back to the trailer! Next event we are back to the bigger lot at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, little motor seems happier there. Had our first bolt come loose, one of the six on the steering wheel. Everything else is still good, I like it when we drive and do not have to use wrenches!

Rick, are you SURE you don't want to fab up one more set of those killer headlight mounts?!?! Pretty please !!! If not, can I at least get a sketch with dimensions on it? You have the best design I have seen to date by far!!
