Looking through the Total Kit car website, I went through the UK manufacturers list.
There appears to be alot of them that have dissappeared. Dakar 4x4, Edge sports cars, Paul Banham, Funbuggies to name a few. Web sites are still there but have not been updated for a number of years.
It's very worrying when looking at going for a kit car that the makers will still be around while you are building the kit never mind getting it finished!
Goes to show that an easy build without too many complications would be the best bet of actually getting the project finished without losing interest, before a company vanishes!

Hi Wiggy
It's the same with any thing in life, Rover and LDV have gone the same way. You should be encouraged that MEV are supported by two companies, both appear to be selling well and appear to have a real company feel about them, rather than a bloke trading from a garage. This forum is independent from them so should be a good source of advice no matter what happens. I am certainly confident in the brand and the health of MEV and RTR.
If you are worried, it's good to buy the whole kit in one go, chassis, body etc. That way you have every thing in your control.
Any way, i get the impression that there would be a queue of potential buyers for the company if that situation ever got close. in my opinion you can buy with confidence.
Cheers

I can understand what you are saying, but most of us don't have the money or space to buy the kit in one go!
I'm trying to get to Newark show in June so will have a good look round. The major pain for me is having a partially stripped donor car lying around...wouldn't go down too well!
Is there a list of everything I would need from a Ford Focus donor car to build a sonic. That way I could get parts from a scrap yard and make a start cleaning them up and refurbishing them ready to put on the kit.
Cheers

There is a list of what you need on the MEV sonic site.
Seems pretty much it for me.
You would be surprised where you can store parts, and a MEV is a relativeley quick build so you would not need to store them for long

Need to sort out the garage space then start looking for a suitable donor.
Spoken to Stuart today just to clear up a few points.
Thing is I'm not that bothered about how fast the car goes, it's more about what it looks like. The Sonic is great looking car, so may just as well drive slow so folks can look at it!
Will just need to sort out finances then I can make a start, hopefully soon.
Cheers
