I first saw the Rocket in the flesh at Stoneleigh 2008, and was so impressed that I arranged a visit to the MEV factory in Mansfield to review and go for a ride in the factory demonstrator. I planned to purchase and build my Rocket over the cold winter months. Thus having plenty of time to plan and dream of my build. Later that year, just before the Stafford show MEV launched its newest product "the Sonic 7", and after seeing the car in the flesh, I was sold. Thus begins my story:- ;D

The strip! Well the Donor has now been all but striped, just 6 items left the 4 doors, boot and bonnet to go, I’ve left these to last so it’s water tight, don’t know why I’m bothered ? Until I load it on a trailer next Saturday to take it to the Grave (scrap ;D) Yard for some money. All the necessary donor parts and the easily ssale able parts ‘eBay’ have now been extracted. Concentrating on the Donor parts I can say that none of the parts were to difficult to extract the worst being the gear cables as the laborious task of stripping the dash was undertaken first, in order to extract the two bolts holding the rubber guide are located right under the heater radiator/ducting, >:(Grrrrrrrrr. The only other thing that I suggest is you take your time as stripping threads, snapping clips (or plastic a pipe connector as I did in haste) just cause unnecessary hassle and increase strip time. “Take Your Time” As far as the saleable parts are concerned I’ve striped any thing and everything on the basis that if it doesn’t sell then I’ll scrap it. As for selling advise, I’ve taken a look at what other sellers are doing i.e. the ‘Salvage Traders / Car Dismantlers’ and I’m going to start my bidding at between half and two thirds of their ‘Buy it now prices’. They must hate us kit car builders. I’ll update you all on my Donor recoupement strategy in about 4~6 weeks time when everything has to be gone, kit arriving. I would recommend purchasing a Haynes Manual of the applicable derivative, as there are so many hidden clips and bolts on modern cars these days that if your not completely o’fay with the particular model of car it is very easy to miss and brake something. The £20 or £10 on eBay is easily recouped.
