I've heard it can take a little longer to get a slot than you may like, but if you're not planning on running over winter I suppose there's no rush....

To be honest it took 3 weeks from the time I sent the form off to get a booking but when the guy from DVLA phoned me I got a test slot the next week but they give you 6 months to take it back. so I have fired up my laptop for the list of fail points but I must say again that the test inspector was very polite and very helpful through out the test which put us at ease . so here goes 1 emissions fail .the car had not been on a good run since curborough so it was running a bit rough due to the constant start stop out of our build shed so once back home we dropped it off to our local garage and they sorted that out 2 exterior projections fail . the rear reflectors we had stuck to the rear wheel arches didn't pass the 2.5 radius test so we can file them down or trim the edges 3 wheel arch fail. we had set the arches too far over the front of the tyre so we need to move them 1 inch further back and trim round all the arches 4 side repeaters fail. these could not be seen from a certain angle at the rear so we need to mount them in a different place the suggestion was some small bullet ones on the front wheel arch 5 fog lamp fail. not angled at 90 degrees when we glued these in the rear clam was not stuck on the car so I never noticed until he told us .So re glue at proper angle 6 headlamp fail. the head lamps are mounted on the sides of bonnet so we needed to rotate the glass by 90 degrees so they where for example like this / and should be like this - I was a few degrees out in my guess work but another easy fix 7 Petrol cap fail. our petrol cap decided to not lock properly so we have put that down to a faulty cap so my brother contacted the place we got the cap from and a replacement is being sorted and I may tether it to be sure it passes 8 fuel pipe fail. I had p clipped under the car but cable tied it where it joined the engine so more p clips are needed closer to engine to make it more secure and that is it the comments I got about the kit on the day was how good it looked and was well put together. The test took 4 hours and we seemed to be the only car booked in that day so there was no rush or pressure I hope this helps fellow builders

Couldn't have put it better myself. For my re-test, I went along with a sheet listing the fail points from the first test, with the solution that I'd implemented to solve each one against them. Seemed to go down well......and keeps them focused on the areas that need checking too! Good luck - I'm sure it'll sail through. Can't beat driving 'em when it's nice and chilly, and you're wrapped up warm! Martin
