I hope you Brits don't mind a Yank coming in but your site has been great at giving me answers and convincing me to build even though my skills are limited. Car is ordered from Flyinmiata and will be here in March. I've got the donor stripped and will be doing engine prep and parts painting in the meantime. Most of the build threads are of early cars. I'm using a 99 as donor so will be asking some different kind of questions. Because of my limited fabrication skills and poor welding, has anyone used the original brake and fuel lines instead of fabricating new ones? I don't have a fuel return line but see that there is a tee fitting right after the fuel filter that goes back to the tank.. Does this mean that I should keep the original filter and the tee or can I use a smaller in-line filter and then a plain old tee? I use a mig welder but only for small unimportant jobs that don't matter if I burn a hole. When I know the sizes of the metal parts of the car, I'll probably buy some small pieces and practice just in case I run into something that absolutely needs a weld. Otherwise rivnuts will have to do. I'm in Las Vegas so I don't have any rust issues or cold weather problems. For the next couple months I'll only post if I have a question or completed a project. After the car arrives, I should be more regular with updates. I'd post a picture but can't figure out how to do it. I see the "insert image" but don't have a URL to put in there. The pics are on an SD card plugged into my computer...

I'm in Las Vegas so I don't have any rust issues or cold weather problems. Considering the weather we are having here at the moment, that one sentence has made me hate you! Welcome to the fold!

Welcome to the forum..Using a 99 you will find uses computer input more then early models.no big deal.. Get your self a good manual with wire runs.. You can reuse the hard lines for brake and fuel.. keep the same use of T and hoses.. Don't worry about asking questions.. Do you have a Miata now other then the doner?? You have to put pics in a folder then pull from it.. Will be looking for your updates.. I am in Fayetteville Arkansas (NW) Good luck have fun..

No sooner did I post this and the next thing I saw was Nitram's build using a 99. He also doesn't weld so will be a valuable resource. I'll be reading his build many times.. I have a 99 autocross, track day, ITS, PTE car to look at when I'm confused. Raced Spec Miata for the past 5 years. Finally sold it and the spare 1.6s and now have a Formula 500. Raced those for 5 years before the SMs... I'll work on figuring out how to post pics... Thanks for the responses.

I moved the photos off the SD card into a folder on my computer. Tried copying the file name into the window that poped up when I clicked on "add image". It gives me the HTTP thing and asks for a URL. Sorry for my computer illiteracy.

Gene.. Have you done this.. HOW TO POST YOUR PICTURES USING 'Photobucket' The thing to understand, is that to post your all important 'photos', they must first be on the Internet and have a URL. 1. First open an account with www.photobucket.com, there is no charge. 2. Ensure you know the location of the photos on your PC, which you wish to post. 3. Upload the selected pictures from your PC to your newly opened 'photobucket' account. 4. This is quite straight forward, simply click on 'browse' in photobucket, locate and select the desired photo, double click it, then click 'submit' in photobucket. With a bit of luck a copy of your photo will now be uploaded to your photobucket account. 5. Now that you have successfully uploaded your photo or photo's to photobucket you can now post them here on the 'MEV Owners Forum'. (although you don't have to, it makes it easer, to do multiple photos if you have two windows open 'MEV Owners Forum' and 'photobucket') 6. Identify in 'photobucket' the picture you wish to post, now RIGHT click on the URL, that's the box second from the top 'Direct Link' under the photo, and 'copy' 7. Click on the picture frame on the top of the "create post" page and delete "http://". Now right click and paste in to the box and left click "insert image". Since I'm a little further along, I want to share some of my work to pay back all the builders from here.... I've been able to open the photobucket account and have uploaded some pics to it.
I get down to number 6 of the above list. I right click on the "direct link" and I don't get my usual list that has copy in it but when I then left click on it, it shows "copied" where the URL was so I assume it copied automatically.
Now, I'm down to number 7. I'm writing this in the "Quick reply" box at the end of my posts and I can't find a picture frame or a create post page....
Sorry for the computer illiteracy.... I need a little more help...

Thank you gwnwar... one step closer... With grandkids, we may be closer in age than some of the others... and still playing with cars... I'm 72, still race SCCA and instruct at track days. Recently joined some young guys and helped them build a Chump Car. 13 hour race next weekend...
