Thanks ll of the pica Dave. I think iam going to have to get the side panels on to workout the skuttle fitting properly. If anyone else has any good pics on how the sonic skuttle(Rtr dash) is cut to fit, please do upload. Good days work today...managed to get a fair bit done...tank is nearly all prepped, hopefully is additional ally arrives tomorrow I should have that completed. Brake and clutch lines all finally fitted, ecu and all other fuse brackets made and fitted ready for wiring to commence soon main ally coolant pipes fitted also and can now begin to fit silicon hoses and rad tomorrow and seats shall go in tomorrow providing the runners are finally delivered, were due today, Dave - you also i see you have made a whole frame structure for the seats is all that really necessary for rigidity ?

Yes you are correct, you need to get the side panels fitted correctly, this will then allow you to fit the rear panel and the front grill, once they are all in place and you are happy with the shut lines etc then you will have the correct height for the scuttle. As for the seats, you must do whatever you think is necessary, I have engineered mine to be as secure as possible, in the event of a impact I don't want the seats breaking loose easily!

Are you attending any meets/shows in 2015? Would be nice to see the car in the flesh.

How did you mount your fuel tank? Is it bolted directly to the floor? What hardware did you use? Thanks James

Hi James, I mounted the fuel tank directly onto the floor with two 5mm steel straps underneath between the chassis rails. Sorry don't have a pic. I used M8 bolts. Don't forget you need drain holes or a gap for spilt fuel to escape

Thanks Dave,
Could you please do me a favour and measure the size of the tank and where your steering column passes in relation to the bulkhead and steering mount points please?
I might get one custom made but need to know the original size and available width.
Re the steel straps - are they bolted with the bolts vertical or horizontal please? Is the bottom of the strap resting on floor?
Sorry for the questions, I'm just trying to imagine it.
I'm going to draw up my plan in something (not Solidworks!)...

Hi James, This is how my Sonic tank sits. It is on 20mm nylon spacers. Hope that helps a bit
