Had a great time at my first track day today...
But we had a bit of drama that luckily ended well, when the bonnet flew off at the end of the straight.
I suggest that you tape the bonnet-nose joint before going above the legal speed limit.
I wasn't driving, but watched it happen right in front of me. Exocet was doing 100 mph and it took off vertically many metres into the air. Thankfully there was no one behind and it landed towards the pit lane out of the way.
Somehow it must have flexed just enough to allow the bonnet to come out from under the nose. At that point the two aero catches didn't stand a chance. Both catches were still closed and the pins on the car ok too.
The bonnet landed on rear corner and is in remarkably good shape.
I'm going to add a third aero catch in the middle at the front I think. Our possibly a dzus connection between the bonnet and nose.
I'm sure the securement is fine for normal conditions, but thought I'd better share this for track users - it had the potential to be a lot worse.

Before you go cutting holes for front catch remember the radiator cap is dead centered there.. If you are going to be tracking put 2 more catches up front each side..

I have bonded 2x quick release clips ( think of rucksack straps) to the bonnet, and a part of the chassis.
Effectively the Straps are secured to either end of a metal bar which has been bonded to the underside of the bonnet and the other end looped around the chassis, significantly cheaper and more effective as the strap can be tightened, and it sits well out of site.
