My guess is that the best car at the track will be a MEV

I would just like to say again - nice meeting you all today. Many thanks for the hospitality, chat, info and a chance to check out the cars in person and on the track. Two different cars and two different passenger experiences - at least you guys didn't loose your petrol tank!!

Just wanted to echo what Fizzy has already said, I really enjoyed the day, It was a pleasure to meet you all and thanks for the hospitality.
Both cars are great and I really enjoyed my session out on track with Matt in the Rocket. I had not expected the 1.6 to go so quick and I thought the cornering grip/ability was awesome.
Maybe next time, I could get a ride in the Soinc Nigel (please) - my fault, had to go ...but I have to say , its a quality build, very impressive.
I have some pics & videos, can someone tell me where & how to to load them please ?
thanks again Tony

Thanks Ian and Tony Yesterday was a great track day, one of the best days I have had. The atmosphere was really good, almost entirely kit cars except for two minis, two lotus's and a morris minor (220bhp). a few photos below, but over the coming days i hope to post stuff that is much better with links to the photographer who took them. The weather was excellent, lunch was provided and the track was much better than I had expected, with some really difficult corners. no crunches for any car, although one car dropped his petrol tank under breaking! and the OMEX 348bhp car failed on the first session as it ate it's own drive belt. both MEVs behaved very well, no spins, trips or falls to report. Again over the next few days i get some videos sorted out and i am sure nige will do a better job of that than I will. It was really good to spend time on track against another MEV. I was really curious as to who would be faster, and after following each other round there are still more improvements to be had with suspension set up and driving habits, but as for overall speed........ it was too close to call, both cars were very well matched. better photos, video and tales of daring do to follow cheers mattsmev

At the start of the day Matt's greater track experience and R'888 certainly gave him the edge. (To thinking, I had to stop him from joining the novice group when signing in, during morning registration) After playing with tyre pressures, damper setting and brake bias throughout the morning I'd like to think that my speed and confidence increased immensely, while it was difficult at times to compare Sonic and Rocket we did at the very end of the day get the opportunity to go 6/7 laps, head to head together on an almost empty track. I have to unfortunately agree with Matt's conclusion, that the battle of the MEV's was to close to call and remains, to be decided. So its more car tweaks and lots and lots of driver practice for me. Videos to come nigel

Looks like you all had a good day out, wish i could have been there. Both MEV's look so much better than anything else on the track :-)
To be honest I thought Niges' sonic would have been the faster of the 2 with its extra power and loads of down-force, particularly on what looks like a high speed circuit. I have to say I love your front wing Nige, so much nicer than the standard one, where did you get it from ?
Matt, what is the large intake on the engine cover for ?

Thanks for the kind comments, I may have 15bhp more power and be more aerodynamic but I'm carrying about 130kg more in car and driver body weight. The front wing is just a chopped up rear purchased of eBay for £30. Took a sneaky pic inside Matt's engine bay when he wasn't looking. nigel

Hi Brownie The large intake is where the money goes Actually, i have added a new air filter and the intake is to get some cold air and a bit of ram air pressure at high speed. Nige has called it my f-duct. My daughter did some experiments to ensure it is a positive pressure area, but she has not added them to the forum yet, details soon. I also like the induction noise. Cheers Mattsmev

LOL I know what you mean Matt, my credit card is taking a right pounding.
A very clever idea by the way, I have thought about a cold air intake but nothing like that. Bet it sounds the dogs ...
Matt have you thought about getting a front wing ? I'm currently trying to source one (don't really like the one RTR do) I'm also looking into fitting a diffuser. As out floors are perfectly flat and we can run them close to the ground we should get a fair bit of performance out of it.

Looks like much funness, love the pics.
I see you all had good day at track day any changes that seem to work re: pressures of tyres and clicks on dampers, ride heights etc
