Well next weekend is the Complete Kit Car / Omex Track Day at Llandow (South Wales) Both me and 'mattsmev' are planning on attending and I have to confess I've been hard at work today ensuring everything is setup correctly. I learn't the hard way last year and want to ensure that this time every thing is spot-on (fingers crossed) Mind you mattsmev armed with his 888's and a lot more experience will still probably whip my a_s anyway just want to play the psychology card and worry him by posting this pic Forgot to ask, anyone else going ? If so bring your camera we need to get some footage of MEV's on the track for the Forum ;D nigel

Dear all
I am genuinely worried by next weekend. To the best of my knowledge It's the first time two MEV products have gone head to head at a track day like this and I realise the good name of the Rocket is in my hands. Nigels car is put together so well. We both attended the CKC car set up talk at stoneleigh and as you can see from above he has been putting the lessons to good effect.
Which car will be fastest? Nigels has a bigger engine and lots of wings (front and rear), mine may be a bit lighter and is running on Toyo R888's. I have done a few more track days than Nigel, but critically he did this exact track last year. so who will be fastest?
Any other MEV drivers want to join us. I am not sure if any spaces are left but you can always email ian@performancepublishing.co.uk to find out.
I am looking forward to the event a lot, it will be a good warm up for the AMM event (details else ware on this forum), I doubt i'll be fast, but as long as i get to drive home, it will be OK
Cheers
Mattsmev.

I wouldn’t worry to much matt, I got the biggest shock of my life when doing my corner weights, I thought I’d misread the scales until I finally admitted that I had over indulged during the Christmas break. Role on next weekend ;D nigel

Hi Nigel & Matt, I am not an owner yet, just a newbie going through the research stage. Can't make up my mind between Sonic or Rocket so would love to see both of them. Is it possible to come down to Llandow and spectate ? It would be good to see both cars on track, have a chance to look over them and talk to you guys about your builds .....if that's ok ?
I have spotted that its Saturday 15th May but what time does it start please ?
thanks Tony

It won't really get going till about 10.30am but tends to be open track in the afternoon, there is a guest fee of £5 on the day but not sure if that is for driver-passengers. If you do decide to come down make sure you say hi. nigel

Hi Tony
It would be great to see you on Sat. Gates open at 8:30, but like nigel says the track does not open until 10:00. Lunch is 1:00 till 2:00 so that would be a good time to talk to us. Lunch is provided for a fee of £5, i imagine to do this you need to email Ian with the address above.
Look forward to seeing you
Cheers

thanks Guys, I have a free day Saturday so I will come down. If I can get my camera and video working, maybe I can get some shots of you guys in action.
All I need to do is decide whether to drive or to come on the motorbike.
See you saturday
cheers

Hi, New member and kit car newbie here. I was directed to this forum/car make by a relative, and I'm rather intriqued. I've been checking out the Sonic 7 info. As it happens I don't live that far away from Llandow. Would it be ok for me to pop down to this event on saturday to have a chat with you guys and check out the cars? I'm 6ft 4 with size 12 feet so ideally need to know if I'll fit in one for starters, before I get too carried away. I'll most likely be bringing my brother along (probably also with my nephew in tow ) since he will most likely be assisting me with the build if I decide to go ahead with a car/build myself. Looking forward to the weekend. - Ian.

Hi Ian and Tony
I'd be very happy to met you both on Sat. It will give you an opportunity to see customer built cars and see what is possible. Nigel's is a very well built car, and you will be able to see the rocket next to the sonic.
If you get an opportunity it's well worth calling in to Team MEV, they will give you all the information required and tell you about the costs. you can also catch up with them at a car show. Newark is a good show, as is Stafford.
Just for info, Nigel's has a 1.8l engine and mine has a 1.6 Zetec SE. there are lots of bigger engines in the back of MEV products, but I quite like my little engine, it works like a dream.
One other thing. I may get you to sign a confidentiality agreement. I am concerned that Nigel will be faster than me, even though he says he won't be. Whatever the reality is I will claim victory and hope that you back me up! (it will be our little secret)
See you both on Sat
Cheers

Hi Matt, I have e-mailed Ian Stent so I have lunch sorted. I also plan to go Newark with a friend of mine who built a GTM Libra. I am still hoping he might get a pass out to come with me on Saturday.....maybe even bring his Libra
As for my silence, that can easily be bought .... maybe you could take me for a spin in you car and I will say whatever you want :-)
My mate Bob says the lighter car with the 1.6 engine will be quicker round the track so his bet was on you Matt :-)
It will be interesting to see
cheers
Tony

Hi Mattsmev, I'm sure we can come to some arrangement (should I bring a helmet? ) - photoshopped finish line pictures never lie! ;D A trip to MEV will most likely be on the cards but since I only found out about this kitcar a few days ago, and your track day being conveniently close it seems an ideal opportunity to check out built cars in person, and chat to the people that built 'em. Anyhow - looking forward to it! See you there.. - Ian.

Now I just need to find someone who can drive Stiggggyyyyyyyyyyy nigel Erm... obvious response would be "someone who can drive? I'll get my license...." ;D ....although I bet you mean somebody who can drive it around the track properly.. Car is looking very nice by the way - hope the rain down here clears up for tomorrow! <fingers crossed!> That reminds me - how do you cope with the rain in these cars?

Blimy Nigel, i feel like Lotus / HRT / Virgin in the Formula 1 development race. Those look like brand new TOYO Proxes T1-Rs going on (i need to get out more), so my only advantage has gone - what hope do i have? My car is all loaded and miss mattsmev has been sent away for the weekend Mrs mattsmev and I will get up very early tomorrow and set off for Llandow. The event has taken on a few followers. Nige and I will be representing team MEV, my friend will be in his Westfield MegaBlade, another friend will be there to take photos, Ian and Tony to look at the product and Stent and Wilkins from CKC to look on as well. Trying to sleep tonight will be like sleeping on Christmas eve, i can't wait Cheers Mattsmev PS - these cars in the rain? no problem as long as you have a coat, we bought some all in one motor bike 'andy pandy' suits which are really good, so we just dress like a motor cyclist.

another photo to show the trailer is connected to the car in the trailer is 4 sticky tyres and a jack, 25l of fuel and a funnel, some tools, oil, and some chairs. We have even stuck in a tent in case the weather is rubbish and there is no cover - I guess that would be the hospitality suite! cheers mattsmev
