Have you checked to see if you can use copper tubing for the brake system in CA.. I would only use stainless tubing.. Remember to double flare all fittings.. Remember to put your fitting on tube before flaring it.. You can buy premade lines with fitting in different lengths and connect them with a fitting. Just get the right thread pitch/size..

Unless I missed something in his build description, he shouldn't be running copper tubing as brake line on a US-Built car. Exomotive sends plenty of Cunifer Alloy brake line with the US-built kits, which is DOT-approved, quite strong, eliminates rust, flares easy, and bends tightly without collapse. It's great stuff, especially because it doesn't require the really expensive flaring tools.

I'm using the standard Exomotive tubing. Which I now know is cunifer alloy! I haven't had any experience with double flaring brake lines. I plan to practice a lot over the weekend before I do it on the car.

Any reason to use rubber spacers on mounting the gas tank?

Nope. They're not used on the Miata, not really sure why they're in fashion for Exocet builds. I used long bolts, washers, and nuts to mount it all up on XP-3.

So plumbed all the brake lines. I'm not happy with the way they look. I couldn't get them as straight as I would like. I now know how long they need to be. If I take them back off, where can I get braided lines at predetermined lengths with metric double flares?

We have a new stainless steel brake line kit that goes from master cylinder to caliper and includes everything you need. Two sets on customer cars so far. There are a few parts on backorder but I should have a kit in stock by the end of next week if you are interested.

Weekend update. I got part of my new steering column in house. My old was (lower portion) was way short. This shows why my old one didn't fit right: New one on the left (with the base at the same point). I then started to hook up all brake lines. I ran them all, double flared, and then hooked them up. I tried to make them as straight as possible, but I hate the look. No matter how hard I tried to make things even and balanced, it just looked sloppy. I now am in the process of ordering a braided line kit from Exomotive. This should look much better to the eye. I also made brackets for the front brake lines: I am unsure if I will need the brackets (if I do they still need to be painted), or if the new kit will be a straight shot from the brake master cylinder. Either way it will look much better than the copper colored lines on flat black paint. I also ordered the exhaust that I talked about in a few previous posts. More to come in two weeks.

Another question, what is everyone using for a battery?

We've used the Odyssey PC545 along with their pre-made bracket for both my black Exocet and XP-3.
