I have been building one off and on ( mainly off) for the past 3 years. It is now nearly at a stage to take to the MSVA station. The nearest to me is about 30 miles away over the Pennines and I have not a hope of making it there and back on the batteries. I have a normal Focus car with no towbar and hence would have to spend cash to get it there. The options are:
Option 1 Hire a van of the day but would the etrike fit in the back of a transit? the width would be OK but it is the position and dimensions of the wheelarches that could be the problem. Does anyone have experience of this or anyone who has a transit measure the distance between wheel arches. Then there is the task of getting it in there and out without making or buying ramps and I will probably have no help...
Option 2 is to use (buy) a towing dolly and lock the front wheels and tow it backwards behind the car, which would have to be fitted with a towbar. Has anyone used this type of towing dolly with a reverse trike before?
Option 3 get a car transportation company to do it for me for the day, I have got quotes for this and it is not an attractive option.
I still have a few finishing touches to add to it and I need to control the maximum speed to 28MPH to be registered as a moped.
Does anyone have any experience of getting an etrike through the MSVA.
