Race 1. Blistering start, a mixture of stiffening up the rear between quali and race, cold tyres and over-exuberance meant it lasted 3 corners! Trip to the pits to rip the arch off and a breaker bar to bend the arch bracket out then back out. Finished 20th after tagging on the back of Chris and optimistically thinking I could un-lap myself. 2 corners later I realised I'm NOT Lewis Hamilton and it's NOT the German GP! Not sure who I thought I was at 6:10!! At 9:25 I really did think I was going to be de-capitated by John's bonnet!
Race 2. Started 20th and had a lot of fun with the Mk1s and Mk3s playing catchup. Got a bit quiet towards the end as I wasn't gaining on the MX150Rs and there was no-one else around to have any fun with.
Race 3. Too busy watching Chris creeping forward than the lights so got bogged down and John in his bright orange Mk3 was all over me! Spent the rest of the lap watching John in my mirrors hassling me into a mistake into Brooklands hairpin and then spent another 1/2 a lap hassling him back Then it was time to hunt down (and PASS) Blakey which I succeeded at 4:30 only for him to get the undercut into the hairpin a lap later... then I'm CONVINCED he aimed for my stranded wheel arch at 6:06, so that was it, I was having my place back. Out dragged him down the straight, around the outside through Woodlands and completed the move on braking into Honda
A lap or two later we caught up with the Mk1 backmarkers all battling away. After carefully ( :? ) picking our way throught the first 4, we came upon a pirouetting Laim in Car 17. I went right, Blakey took to the grass, and popped a HT lead off. That was the end of his race and our battle. Spent the rest of the race hunting down Chris and Kevin to no avail. Finished 3d again.
Race 4. Much better start, led for 1 3/4 laps until Kevin got the run on me down the back straight. 2 abreast at 100 going into Honda, wheel-to-wheel all the way through and down the start finish straight was probably the most fun I had all weekend. He just had the legs on me down the straight. Chris tried to muscle his way though as well but I wasn't losing 2 places in 1 corner!
Another optomistic move a couple of laps later at 5:55 mean't I went too hot into the hairpin and bogged down in the grass. Chris capitalised on the mistake and took the place. The next few laps I hassled as much as I could but another mistake allowed him to pull away a bit more, so ended the weekend with another 3rd!
Can't WAIT for Snetterton now!!
