Odd about the tread pattern... ho hum.
Love the photos. The Eco Exo looks way better than the Slingshot, even if I am a bit biased!

Thanks Kelvin!
That was the thoughts of many that looked at my trike. Everyone really liked it and many thought it was a production model.
Except for the loose caliper bolts that I rectified I have had zero problems in almost 2000 miles I have put on the trike. I am not afraid to take extended trips now that I know it is super reliable.
I also use the trailer if I go a long distance to a show and park about 10 miles away in some small town close to where I am going. That way I am refreshed and enjoy the day cruising around and not worry about taking a long trip back in it after a long day. It works very well and going home at 70 MPH on the interstate goes quickly in air conditioned comfort when I am tired.

Just looking at your profile pic of it here makes me think I should get mine out for a spin. We've got the summer here too and I should be making more use of it, though I need to keep plugging away at this new one and not get distracted. I've got a couple of small events lined though over the next couple of weeks so I'll get out and about with it then. :-)

Never say Never! Well I thought I was all done and got over 2056 trouble free miles on her now. It got me thinking when I had my homebuilt airplane that I had red instrument lights at night. Man how I missed that cruising at night. Well I solved that problem. Look carefully as it was not an easy job. Calibrating needles is a hint. Yea or nay on this one? My Mom's car has the same colouring to the instruments. She's had it nearly 8 years and I've still not made my mind up on it. At night I love it. Day time is OK too though there is that point when you're halfway between the two when the instruments information effectively become invisible. Personally I think black background is the most effective.
I've been driving cars with digital dashboards for the past 6 years and I was out last night in my Midas Coupe with traditional clocks and was reminded why needles are far better than digits. You don't need to be looking at them to see how fast and how quick you are accelerating. You can make out needle positions from the corner of your eye. It's the needles that are the important bits and should be the brightest. If you look at older race car dashboards you'll also see that they tend to be orientated such that optimum performance is indicated with needles straight up.
Of course the Eco Exo isn't a race car and being CVT the revs pretty much stay constant so it's just the speedo really that needs to shout naughty naughty and then I suppose the temperature is the one that tends to catch my eye most of the time. Fuel just seems to be sipped, or even sniffed and I'm amazed how many mpgs I get.

Fuel just seems to be sipped, or even sniffed and I'm amazed how many mpgs I get. Back in 1978 the EPA and other government agencies ganged up on the American public and made our 120 MPH speedos go down to 85 MPH. The bad (55 MPH Brain Washing) thing is they put the national speed limit of 55 MPH on the right side of the clock with 45 MPH straight up so if you exceeded 55 MPH your brain said naughty naughty as you were going "OUT OF PERIMETERS" to the right too much. Some speedos had 55 MPH in RED and larger font too. I had a 1984 Dodge Shelby Charger that I could bury the 85 MPH speedo in 3rd gear and make it come all the way around to 15 MPH in 5th at 5500 RPM, about 140 MPH. I too like anolog "Clocks" gauges. If its within the 120 degrees left to right with optimum at straight up its easier on the brain. Bar graphs you have to think about.

I went to EAA on Tue and Wed. Had a lot of fun. Today I went to see some seaplanes. I just put 2400 miles on the trike as of today. Love it more everyday I ride it! 0725151054 by evanbelkom, on Flickr

Well I ran into on little problem a couple days ago. I had a few drops of brake fluid on my tunnel for my wiring and radiator lines. I took my bonnet and instrument cover off and found the two piece Wilwood remote reservoir was leaking at the O-ring joint held by a hose clamp. I wanted to fix it once and for all and came up with this. The threads for the cap are the same as my electronic sensor cap from the old unit so my red LED lamp will still show low fluid level. I will take another picture when installed. Old reservoirIMG_3158 by evanbelkom, on Flickr New reservoirIMG_3157 by evanbelkom, on Flickr

OH SO MUCH BETTER. That is how it should have been from the Wilwood factory.

Thanks Dave. Glad you are feeling better. Here it is all installed with new brake fluid added. A few minutes to put the instrument panel, bonnet and seat back in and I am ready to go again. Yahoo! This Winter I might make a custom harness that will be less than a third the size it is now. We will see. IMG_3159 by evanbelkom, on Flickr

Got it back on the road today. Had a great ride. Man did I miss it when it was down! Perfect weather doing 55mph down a small country road. Priceless.

I'd love to get out on mine but that would mean I would not be getting on with building new ones

Hi Kelvin
Went for another 100 mile or so ride. No leaks and running better than ever. So are we talking weeks, months or year before the revel?
I have had so many requests and leaving it silent until your latest build. Most want what I built so it would not be fair as most complimented on the front end.
Otherwise solid as a rock and loving every minute in the seat.

Edward Excellent to hear of you doing these distances with your trike Ed and that you're loving it more and more The Eco-Exo will remain available in it's current form I think it's a great little machine which is why I bought it. The new one I'm doing will be an additional model and it will be a few more months yet. I'd love to show you what I'm doing but it's best to get things right first rather than the continual tweaking here and there I'm doing. I don't think the machines will compete against one another, rather commpliment each other and some features will be intertransferable (if that's such a word) I suppose you could say it's a bit like having a roadster sports car and a GT, similar but a bit different As I've said before I do love what you've done with your trike I think it's superb and glad to hear I'm not the only one

One of my H4 bulbs burned out and I decided to change to some LED Lights instead. The connectors to the bulbs were fried and this would be the best choice for reliability in the future. It took about 5 hours to do as the harness had to be cut and extended about a foot. All the plug in connectors are in the headlight bucket in case I need to replace the fan or LED bulb. I am waiting till it gets dark to try it out. I do not think it will be as bright but most of my driving is during the day so not too big a deal.
