Hi, Just saying hello to everyone at the moment. Have been looking at Sonics and Rockets for a few months and am now very close to writing that cheque. Currently the Sonic is winning the race due to it having a little more weather protection and storage options. I'm also thinking that the panels may be better at hiding any first build mishaps than the "all on show" Rocket. I'm looking forward to getting started on my build but a little apprehensive and I'm impatient and a perfectionist - not sure if this is a good combination. I certainly won't rush my build but would be very happy to have it all done in two weeks!! I've worked in automotive R&D and manufacture for 15 years so am hoping to apply a bit of mass production knowledge to the process. Some of the builds I have followed on this forum really are first class. Hope to meet some of you soon.

Hi Boom
Welcome aboard. it's a difficult place to state a preference for one model or another, like all of these things we will all point out the advantages of our chosen model over the other as if the cars are worlds apart, but under the skin (or not in the case of the rocket) the cars are very similer, and even the sonic offers little in the way of weather protection. same suspension, same engine choice and same seating position. funny how the rocket is best ;-)
I don't live too far from you, about 20miles I guess, so I would love to pop in over the summer, i can kick tires and suck teeth with the best of them.
hope to see you at stonleigh
Cheers

Hi mate I'm in Swindon too (prior vale next to the big Asda) where abouts are you? I'm currently building a rocket so if you want to pop over and have a look/cup of tea you are more than welcome. Hopefully i'll be able to convert you to the rocket :-) It is the better car after all :-) P.S the rocket can easily be weather proofed too.

Thanks for the words of advice. I really am sitting on the fence with regards to model choice. I had a quick spin (not literally!) in an Atom this summer and it was great although it was rushed and the seating position was far from correct - I could hardly reach the pedals or see over the screen!.
I'm not so keen on the engine cover on the Rocket but when I'm in the car I won't see this bit. I just think the Sonic looks a little better (but I'm still undecided!!).
Brownie, I'm probably no more than a mile from you. I'll pm some details. Thanks for the offer

Just realised that there is a very strong possibility of ending up next to brownie at the lights. As he's on a ST170 build I'm going to have to pull something special out of the bag not to be embarrased!!
I don't know, two MEVs in one town. They are way too common!!

how many MEV's can the magic round about take? That would be a cool one make series, a quick lap around each little roundabout For those that don't know swindon, do you fancy doing this on your driving test... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_Roundabout_(Swindon)it's officially the fouth scariest junction in briton when can we get a picture of all the southern MEVs on the roundabout? Cheers Mattsmev
