Well we are off racing again this weekend with our good friends at Rogue Mororsport running the Rocket race car at the superb Anglesey circuit with the beautiful views over the sea to Snowdonia. Our tame racing driver Rob will be trying his best to keep us at the top of class D in the Sports Specials at this double header. Will stick the Gopro on and hope to bring back some great footage. ;D Thank you to our sponsors. Hello all, Leighton and I thought it might be a good idea to start doing full race reports and posting them on here for those of you interested in coming racing with us next year. This weekend was a double header at the fab Anglesey circuit in Wales. After a long drive there I arrived on the Saturday morning for a very early scrutineering slot -7.30am the rocket flew through with no problems (this always depends on the scrutineer some are kinder than others!) Qualifying: We were the first qualifying session of the day at 9.30am it had been raining in the morning so the track was wet and fairly slippy, this is good for us as the Rocket performs very well in wet conditions unlike other cars in the sports specials championship which cannot put the power down in the wet, as a result of this we qualified 5th and ended up on row 3 on the grid. Race 1: After a good qualifying session in the wet the weather had cleared up and the track was starting to dry out, because of the ever changing weather on Anglesey we took a gamble and left the car set up for wet conditions hoping that during the race it would rain but unfortunately it didn’t, so I dropped back and finished in 13th place, after a long battle with Ken in the lotus 23 and a Jaguar E type. Race 2: By this time the weather had well and truly cleared up and we had lovely sunshine, this time we did set the car up for the dry and it performed very well, well enough in fact to come in 8th place ahead on the lotus 23, a jaguar E type, Ford GT40, Westfield and 2 Sylva Phoenix’s just to name a few. So a fantastic result for the Rocket XP1 and Rogue Motorsport. Sponsors: Massive thank you to our sponsors, Motorsport ads is also a good place to buy and sell kit cars too! Black Cat Helmets offer a range of helmets that can be used for both racing and track day use; you can even have your own custom paintwork!
