Been busy at work the last couple of days, popped into the office to see that santa has been. brought me my new fuel level sender, looks like he got me an expensive one too.. lol i didnt like the thought of bonding it to the 1.5mm tank, i dont trust that at all (sorry to those who have done it). so i popped into the shop and chopped a 100mm square of 6mm sheet then popped a 40mm dia. hole through the centre. (or should i say my pal andy did it, i was clean and didnt want to be dirty..lol) i now have a mounting boss. Firstly i was going to weld it on to the top of the tank, but i imagine ill burn through the tank before it seals. so option 2, is to drill the 40mm in the tank top. 8 holes in the perimeter of the boss, and fuel seal it on and clamp tight from inside with M4's then just tap out for the sender (prior to fitting)and gasket and screw to fix... SIMPLES!! he says cheers for now... Paul

Nice but of kit.. I didn't bond mine either, drilled and tapped the 2mm tank with mm threaded Allen bolts. Sealed the inner ring, and secured it. I know it holds pressure I wouldn't fancy a bonded sender/pump, full tank of fuel, and a mid speed crash. Doesn't bear thinking about.

Hi Paul
Looks good.
I'm going to be using one of those senders on a fuel system upgrade if the Rocket doesn't sell.
I know you have a pic of the length, but can you just confirm it is 280mm?
And are you using the standard fuel tank from RTR?
Cheers Mark

Cheers Paul,
Yes, I am going to take the Focus pump out, blank the hole and then feed fuel out of the tank to a swirl pot.
Looking at the Webcon swirl pot and injection pump all in one.
Should avoid any potential fuel surge!

Watching that exact fuel sender on eBay. Also watching a very similar fuel pump, although the one I am looking at is only 4-6psi (25 gallons per hour), but that should be fine for my 1.8 (I hope!). Plus it is only £16.25! 12v ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP SOLID STATE DIESEL / PETROL

dont get the cheap copy mark, their life is short. get a facet one mate, you will only end up buying one anyway. its 18 for a reason mate they are for carbs really, but will be fine to prime pot

i know its extra outlay but it needs to be right. believe me, bosch 044 - £160 facet - £40 sytec filter = £70 bracket to hold them £50
its bloody painful

i didnt like the thought of bonding it to the 1.5mm tank, i dont trust that at all (sorry to those who have done it). I never liked the idea of bonding either so this was my solution. There is a tapped ring welded to the top of the tank and top rings compresses the pump onto o'ring supplied, tapped holes are blind so nowhere for fuel to escape. Plus side is that I can remove the pump for filter cleaning easily. The three angle brackets are to secure the hose when it comes round the top of the tank. As I had to fit a baffle, don't ask, I had to spin the pump 90deg. Only got 6 out of 8 screws in, the other 2 are in the store under the bench with lots of other similar parts

i know its extra outlay but it needs to be right. believe me, bosch 044 - £160 facet - £40 sytec filter = £70 bracket to hold them £50 its bloody painful No, its not.. And i can give you sums to prove it:- On a forced induction car, pump failiure or starvation at high pressure/rpm levels leans the engine out in milliseconds. So, given the prices above for a high flow pump, vs the price of a damaged engine on a trackday.. My build has a brand new stock pump, which WILL be replaced when the power starts climbing past 240hp. Modified focus RS will easily do it. I dont think twin pumps will be required this year. One suggestion is that you can keep your stock fuel pump to feed the swirlpot, and it will dump excess back into the tank. Then 044 the fuel from the swirl to the engine. Dont forget your 1:1 fuel pressure regulator, and not that £20 ebay fire hazard version. FSE 1:1 ratio with a gauge for setup. Avoid the "snap" valves or boost valves unless you have no other option with a stock ford ecu. So add another £75 ish
