Is there any way to access the trunk area of the car when the body is on. I noticed there is no trunk lid on the back

Yup. You grease yourself up and slither between the seats, hopefully to be hauled out by the ankles by a willing bystander ;-)
Seriously though, there is enough access to get the spare wheel or battery out and certainly a good area to hide away a bag or two. It's a knack but not too difficult once the seat is tilted forward.
There's always the view that the rear window void could accommodate an opening hatch if you were to fit one.
