Okay, so it's the anglo-japanese event at Combe this weekend (16/17 June). Just wondering if all of you MX150R racers are going to be coming along?
I've not been on the forum for a couple of months due to writing off my Exocet, but figured I should say hello again before going along to Combe this weekend - be great to say hello to some of you if you're going to be going along?
Looking at the calendar, the MX150R's will only be racing on Saturday, unless any of you know differently? With this in mind my plan of attack is to pop on over for the day on Saturday - can't get away with being there both days, what with it being Father's Day on Sunday...

Thanks Stuart,
Looking around the paddock there are 4 here today, but one of them is for sale and doesn't appear to be racing.
Quali for the 150Rs is up next - first chance to see how they all get on. Good luck everyone!

Good news - all 4 are on circuit and appear to be doing a good job. Can't wait to see the quali result and then the race itself.

That's a shame mate, would have been good to have another on the grid. Looking at the livery on the cars, I'm guessing that 'The Freak' has an altergo where he is known as Stuart Mutch - any idea if I'm right anyone? Interesting race 1 for anyone interested.... Red flag on lap one after 2 mx5's came together and landed on the barrier at the second corner. After the restart, Jonathan Blake & Kevin Dengate had a good scrap with the lead changing half a dozen times before Dengate pulled away and eventually won with a big lead. Blake seemed to struggle for the second half of the race. Further down the field Stuart Mutch had a good fight with Kevin Middleton (the new orange car) which was eventually won by Middleton. Mutch seemed to lose a lot of time a lap or two from the end, I'm guessing he had a spin on the back end of the track. Overall, a really good race, can't wait now for race 2.

you are right about the freak's alter ego. those Mk1 drivers really go for it and don't seem to worry about safety or the non-contact idea of racing Enjoy race 2!

Yep, we were there too. Very good first race, I wasn't too keen on the second. Didn't see what was happening, but the Exocets didn't do as well in the second. Think it may have been the rain to blame.
Overall, we were very impressed with the performance compared to the MX5s.

The mk1 uses Kumho road tyres; the mx150r(exocet) uses Kumho motorsport tyres with minimal tread which makes life interesting in the wet! Looking at the timings for race 2, I would say you were spot on.There has been talk of a wet tyre for the mx150r next year but as yet no decision I think.

Missed this post! Had a really good weekend at Combe. the video of Race 1 is in this thread: www.mevowners.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=member&thread=2738&page=1As you can see, I had a small incident with Mark in car 88 which almost ended in tears. Thankfully missed the tyre wall and got back on track. Second race I forgot to stick the memory card in the camera, but didn't do as well. The rain didn't help as on the Khumo V70a slicks, there's not a lot of grip compared to the Mk1s. Next weekend should be good, Brands Hatch and we're on track with the Mk3s instead of the Mk1s. They appear to be a little more reserved as their cars cost substantially more to repair! Plus they run the same tyres as us so should be a good comparison. I also managed to bad a couple of extra races on the Sunday with the Nippon challenge. Had a good play with some Celica GT4s and a rapid Mitsubishi Colt Cyborg. Those videos are in the same thread above.

Castle Combe lies in a valley and is considered one of the loveliest villages in the Cotswolds. It is one of the most visited and frequently finds favour as a backdrop for period television and cinema dramas.

This year the scrap resulted in a spill. A rad split on a car causing 4 cars to collide. Kevin Dengate was delighted with the strength of his chassis and how it protected him but it will need some work. Attachments:

Now it makes sense, I was wondering how it got damaged at the front and side. Kevin span off and hit the nose into the wall at 100 mph and it bounced around and then another car T boned him as he sat.

Kevin had quite an eventful first race He bumped my back end going into Quarry, interesting opposite lock moment while on the apex! He also did similar to Jamie resulting in the nosecone getting damaged and allowing the bonnet to lift at the front to the bonnet pins which when he was clear was acting as an air brake This meant he fell behind a bit and while us 4 up front (Jamie, Chris, John and myself) he was slightly behind when we saw the slippery surface flag. We all went through Tower sideways on the spilt coolant and all I saw in my mirror was a cloud of smoke as Kevin went straight on Thankfully he was clear of the car by the time the Mk1 came sliding in and T-boned his car. I've snapped quite a few pics of the car if you want them sending over?
