I recently discovered MEV and its cars and find them most interesting.
Per the title of this forum I *am* interested and want to know more, but to my dismay discovered that only customers are allowed access to the technical forum.
I am troubled by this lack of transparency, a phrase overused these days but certainly apropos here.
The only reason I can think of for this policy is that MEV doesn't want to dissuade would-be buyers by the travails that await them in construction.
On the other hand, at least some of these are visible in the build threads.
Am I missing something?

Agreed entirely. It is a ridiculous policy in this day and age.

You should be able to get more than enough info for you needs via the normal build threads. The technical section is indeed used by owners to air technical issues that they come across during their build, this also helps keep the site segmented, and easier to navigate.
I have visited many sites which appear messy and do not appear to follow logical steps with build info, technical issues and general niff naff all on the one page.
I have been a member of the site for over a year now and have found that the general layout is helpful and logical which makes navigation easy.

It is most certainly not to hide any major construction woes. I think the segmented areas work very well. If you are interested, you can see all needed within Moggers build blogs. The 'Technical section' is a roll of questions/information from new and old Moggers being asked/answered as you go through the build, and new ways of approaching different/new processes.

Sorry, but I don't see how that in any way justifies denying access to the information. You're saying it's to protect people from being overwhelmed by disorganized info, but then say how having a technical section organizes. Regardless, if I find it too disorganized, I can decide not to bother with it.

'Regardless, if I find it too disorganized, I can decide not to bother with it' This is what is not wanted to any new or consistent member of the forum. We want every one to 'bother' to input and not find it 'disorganized', hence why it is attempted to be an easy forum to use and this is why the two areas are segregated. I personally think it works well but do not want to offend your views. If you have any initial worries or comments on any of the builds then please ask away

"This is what is not wanted to any new or consistent member of the forum."
I was speaking figuratively, and most definitely do want to bother with it.
I am baffled by what seems like the view that people need to be treated like children and protected from too much info, disorganization, or whatever.
And rather shocked that what is effectively censorship is being defended.

Hi, you should really only need to access this information (tech info) if you have ordered your kit, there is plenty of information on the build pages, (10 pages worth) to give you an idea of whats involved, im with airforceone and mabbs on this. If you want to know more and see more the go to the shows or RTR, the cars that MEV and RTR supply are generally very basic unless you decide to do something more individual (mabbs build for eg), im still waiting for my kit (arrives mid june) but would say that ive picked up more than enough hints n tips using the rest of the site. I do have the password for tech section but hardly go on it, the moggers on the site all provide plenty of help when needed, im overwelmed by the help ive already had and invites to see part and fully built cars(ade, tony and chris-absolute gents). If you want to see more then order a MEV! Wayne.

The technical section is not organised by model anyway so unless you have a Rocket it's pretty pointless.
Noah, if you are in the US and are thinking of getting an Exocet just speak to Kevin Patrick at Exomotive.com His build thread is better than the "guide".

Hi Noahkatz, i can understand your frustration, but by having the tec section as 'owner only' it allows it to stay as just that ..technical..otherwise it might have a tendency to turn into a general chat room, by someone reading a point and asking direct questions to it, just to get their answer but not having a car to use it on. For instance everyone is giving you information about visiting rtr and attending the shows, then you tell us your in the USA, there is a section for your location in your profile! For builders it keeps the section very organised and if you have a problem you can solve it very quickly without having to trawl through lots of meaningless threads first. Steve

OK, I added info to my profile, somehow my account wasn't activated and I didn't see where to put it.
OK I understand not wanting non-owners derailing threads with questions etc; then just make it read-only for them.
I will get in contact with Kevin.
BTW it's the Tr1ke I'm interested in.
