I paid my deposit last year for the first tR1ke, just confirmed colours, options and specs today. I've had the R1 donor for three months already, so I'm all set up. The donor: I'm emptying my garage tomorrow in anticipation of the kit's arrival, which should hopefully be mid February. I'll post as much info as possible, including how much everything costs and how long things take! This is my first kit car, I'm thirty, with two kids and I work for the leccy board as a linesman. I spend too much time on the internet so if I post too much please ask me to stop! I do know how a motorbike is put together, but I'm no mechanic and can't weld or anything. Paul from Road Track Race assures me the build will be possible even for an idiot like me so this will be my little thread. Carl Foster.....

dont be rediculous... you have the first one, you probably won't be able to say enough. Anyway congrats and out of curiosity, what colors/options/specs/ did you go with? Could you give us a run-down of your build plans to date? Thanks.

Paul from Road Track Race assures me the build will be possible ............. Carl Foster..... Hi Carl I have to say I'm quite jealous of you already, although being the first means that you will be responsible for customer proofing the kit, it also means that you will be assured of having the undivided attention of both RTR and MEV, as they will be very keen to see you succeed. My only advise is don't worry if you get stuck, there is light at the end of the tunnel, and promise me you'll enjoy the experience. nigel

I'm going with gloss black chassis, White panels and RTR seats, kliktronic gearchange with full throttle shift, wilwood four pot brakes all based round a carb'd R1.
The panels are going to be painted metallic green after this summers use.
I've also been in touch with Jack at Holeshot racing about a turbo conversion.
My R1 cost less than £2k with two folders of receipts and only 13000 miles on the clock. Every single unused part will go on eBay, I'm pretty confident I'll get a big chunk of that outlay back.
I'll pop some pictures of the donor up next weekend, as well as the sale prices of all the ebay'd bits so people have a guide.
I did about 600 miles on the R1 last year, they're great bikes. It almost seems a shame to break it up!

Turbo'd R1 sounds interesting, what would the bhp be then, and approx power to weight?

£4500 fitted gets 270 bhp at the wheel, so that makes approx 600bhp per metric ton. I will not be even thinking about tuning work until the tr1ke is handling and driving well!

There'll be no tuning at all until the chassis is all done and done a few days at Cadwell. I've just put a bid on another R1 on eBay so there may be a brace in the shed.
Anybody on here actually driven a reverse trike in anger?

First purchase for the tR1ke arrived today, a nice tidy little push to start button from Europa spares.

Engine delivered, ebay parts being shipped. It's wagon's roll.
The gel coat colour had already arrived at RTR, it looks awesome!!
I'm going back one day this week with some friends and my camera, I'm real excited now!
The engine removal and whole bike strip down only took 6 man hours, down to the every last bolt and panel. And that was with beer breaks, you need beer when taking stuff to pieces!!
Anyway, the build should start before March, can't wait.
