hi everyone, considering building a sonic later in the year, i realise that the ford Zetec is the standard choice - but anyone used a Civic type R engine and box. I realise i will need stand alone engine management and throttle bodies. any thoughts?

thanks will, i guess there will be complecations with a non standard engine and transmission. accident low mileage Type R about £2000, so similar to an ST 170 focus. also all alloy engine, 6 speed plus 8000 rpm and nearly 200BHP all appeal!

... i guess there will be complications with a non standard engine and transmission. there certainly will be, i used a honking great diesel engine. never had so many sleepless nights. your hard work will be rewarded with a VERY quick car though. which if thats what you want, go for it ;D wil

ah, so you're that Will!
Read about your car with great interest.
what sort of mpg can you get out of it? or did you use a diesel just for a challenge?

if i drive reallly careful i can get well over 70mpg. if i drive how the rocket should be driven, its nearer 40mpg. i didnt build the car primarily for efficiency, i just wanted something different and a bit of a beast ;D the turbo-diesel motorbike im working on is for efficiency, but thats still top secret. wil

thats pretty good, although i expected a bit more, i used to own a new shape civic diesel and if i drove like a nancy i could do 70 mpg on a run!
i am quite tempted by diesel but i have a soft spot for hondas having owned a few, including an s2000, and the diesel crv i have now.
the honda 2.2 diesel is lovely, and is all ally so should be a bit lighter than most. your bike sounds interesting, look forward to the unveiling!
