Just wondering how the sigma engine from the Ford Fiesta would go in a Sonic. The Fiesta uses the same ib5 gearbox as the Focus and the Sigma engine produces approx the same power and torque as the 1.8 Zetec and is lighter. Oh, and there is a rotrex supercharger kit available that boosts it to 170hp :-)

hi lee,
the 1.6 sigma engine in the fiesta is identical to the one in the focus. the mountings may be different, but these could be easily changed.
However, the fiesta IB5 gearbox has the rod change interface, whearas the focus already has the cable system.
both 100hp standard as far as im aware.

Yep, a good engine choice in my book. Apparently 40kg lighter and very easy to live with. 100bhp in standard fettle but gains can be made with some mild tuning.
quite a revvy little engine, I have had mine in the back of a rocket for over 9000miles, and lots of track days and no engine related problems at all.

Unfortunately I don't think we get the focus with a 1.6 in Australia, just the 1.8 and 2.0. The joy of living in a relatively small car market.

Hi
A quick question: which seats did you use? I assume they are ADR compliant. I have done som esearching for seats that will work in the Sonic and be ADR compliant but they seem to be too wide.
Thanks
