Apologies for the ridiculous typo's in my last post. Doing on my phone while eating dinner. Here is a pic of my setup with enough distance.

Hi, similar idea's ay. If i swap the top lights around i'm well above the 100mm, But for the iva day i will just have the standard square £5.00 jobbie from halfords hanging under the back chassis . Main reason for the setup on the strut block, is that the spacers and tyre width mean that i'm limited by the 400mm outer edge rule. The car is now at 70 inches wide, if you look at the front wing strut its virtually on the tyre, extensions are in progress.

Ahh, I like your style. I don't have a firm plan for fixing my arches yet so I'll be keeping a close your eye on your ideas

Will you need to swap your winker and rear light around, i think with your guards on your going to be close on the 400mm rule from outer edge to rear lens.

I'll have to check that, but swapping is an option.

Just measured mine to your setup and its border line, maybe better to swap them over, i've really gone into the light issue as there's been alot of failures on this. I mounted mine off the strut and further back due to the 5% rule when standing on the nearside wheel line, there's suppose to be visibility of 5% of the offside light from the nearside, so if you swap yours over you might kill " two birds" so to speak.

Hi mate, can you just clarify this 5% rule for me please? I thought it was the case that the opposite side brake light had to be visible from a 5 degree angle ie, if you are standing nearside you need to be able so see the offside light from a minimum of 5 degrees out from directly inline across the car (gobble gobble snort chewing words) if that makes sense PW

Pictures paint a thousand words and all that..... Have a scroll through the IVA manual posted on the MEV homepage, the IVA is easier to navigate and understand than I expected. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that. A few months ago I sat down and read the entire iva manual. Wow that was fun (ahem). I couldn't remember the exact lighting details but I reckon I'll be fine with my setup.

Had a good couple of days, got the lights finished, and tracked back over the engine with the wiring. looks quite tidy, just the bonnet to go now. Head lights need setting up, but all work perfect, the brackets that there on make the lights about 530mm high, so iva friendly. They fit perfect on the flat plate on the frame. Got loads of them if you need them, only the lamp hole needs drilling, £3.00 a pair plus postage, pm me. i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff402/sboy555/augbankholiday012.jpg[/IMG] All the winkers are on and working, Just the panels and wings to go then send in the iva forms off Have bought some harnesses for it, tried doing a temporary fit of the MX5 roof support bar, trying to see if it will do as a harness hook up. Its the exact size but haven't checked the regs yet, its not fitted perfect yet as the belts should come tomorrow, the metal inside is the same thickness as the frame suports. Comments please..... All the wiring is now shortened and i have one final session on that then i'll cover it the same as the relays above the steering column.

Looks nice mate -
I am a nats nad just in front of you - although its 2 forwad 1.5 back at the mo !
You look as if you have the same clearance on the tryes as i do with my wingstays - i think the wing fixing will be interesting!

Hi Red, Got an answer to that one... all of the stays can be extended by bolting an extension to the stay ends, if you want to gain one inch, bolt the stay to some 5mm bar and cut off at one inch longer, then bolt on as before. The front ones, gently grind off the weld and remove the stay, weld on one inch of plate and rejoin the stay. Sound complicated but is only a few hours work.

I'd be a little concerned about the harness bar. It looks like it will pull off from those tabs when you exert the Gs you experience in a front ender. If I was you I'd do it properly, get a bar welded into the roll hoop. For the extra few quid, you're guaranteed the thing will hold up

Looking good like the way you have put the loom by the injectors. I have positioned my main fuse box by the manifold and could run the wires like yours will deffently make it look neater.

Hi Freak, good point, thats why i wanted comments, will take all on board, just temporary at the mo as i've not received the belts or looked close at the bars available. Do you have any info on the mev bar... is it bolted between the stays or is it welded in.
