I'm buying a new 2.0 Zetec engine which comes with a clutch and flywheel. I was thinking it would be better to use the lighter 1.8 flywheel but does this mean I have to buy a different clutch ?
If so anybody got any good links for them ?

Hi Mate
Unfortunately you can't use the flywheel or clutch from the 2.0 litre engine if you are using an IB5 gearbox.
You need need a 1.8 engine flywheel and clutch set, the good news is that the 2.0 litre flywheel will get
you 20-30 quid and the 2.0 litre clutch set will get about 50 quid on ebay.
Get a 1.8 flywheel from ebay about 20-30 quid, or go to a scrappy.
A 1.8 clutch kit (2 piece will set you back about 80 quid or 3 piece about 140)

What is the extra part you get in the 3 part clutch over a 2 part ?

This is the site I used. www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/c/clutch_components_475/You need the two piece kit for the 1.8 engine which costs 71.36 I also bought a new clutch cylinder and bearing for an IB5 gearbox which cost 53.21 If your happy with the condition of the cylinder you have then you don't need to get one I just decided to by all new so shouldn't need to change anytime soon. Don't fancy taking the engine and gearbox apart again once it's in there. Ned |
