ma5daracing.com/mk1/eventguide/2011/enduro/index.phpAll MOGGERS are welcome to join us and watch 2 Exocets being driven in anger in the 12 hour endurance race. The competition is stiff but we are very excitied about this event. The cars have done incredibly well so far this year and this final race of the season will hopefully demonstrate the reliabilty of the package. Come and say hello and support your Team.

2 MEV's tested and ready for the off at 9am Alec Livesley and Jonathon Blake are a team, not the biggest team entering the race as they have a MASSIVE 12 hours race ahead of them. Most teams have 6 drivers! We will be doing all we can to keep the cars and drivers going. They also have Pete and James as mechanics who are great lads. Fingers crossed, it is going to be a tough race to say the least. I will post the outcome on Sunday morning

Race update 14:35:- 5 and half hours in. Both cars running well. We have fastest lap of the day. Currently running 4th on lap 130. Already getting dark. Both Drivers in great form. Latest Update 17:35:- Engine blown in one car, not bad considering that the engine done over 130,000 miles including a number of races this year plus today’s 4 and half hours on the rev limit ! Won't mention the second cars exhaust problems, after all the problems Team Exocet are still running 5th catching the leaders at over 9seconds a lap. On Behalf of Stuart Mills

I mean these are two kit cars both using old Mk1 engines and the one that went pop had over 130,000 miles on the clock just shows the strength of the car. I'd like to know more about the exhaust difficulties ? Top marks go to Jonathan Blake and Alec Livesley i just can't begin to appreciate how they managed to do 12 hours behind the wheel, 6 hours apiece, hour on hour off, 'unbelievable' Looking forward to Stuarts detailed blow by blow race report later today. ;D ;D ;D nigel

What a fantastic day! I still cannot believe that Alec and Jonathon raced for the whole 12 hours! The other teams had up to 6 drivers. James the mechanic did his upmost but sadly we were pushed back in the final throws when the exhaust failed on one car and the engine blew in the other, mind you it had done 130k before we decided to make it into a race car so we can hardly complain! I had noticed a burst of smoke on corner exits and they were not exactly being gentle. Apparently the rev limiter is the "change gear" indicator! They drove extremely well all day, somehow I felt they would be at 95-98 percent but it appeared there was no let up and they drove 110 percent all day. Jonathon said "it was like sprinting for a solid hour" Sadly though the exhaust dropped off when we were running second quite late in the day and whilst we frantically ripped the one of the dead car and bodged it on the second car we lost about 12 minutes. Had it not dropped off again we would not have lost another 12 minutes bodging it back on but we did the best we could and at least managed to finish. To my amazement our drivers were catching the leaders at a rate of 9 seconds per lap and had the race gone on for another half hour they would have won. Exocets recorded the fastest laps of the day just proving that if we had not suffered the exhaust issue they would have won easily. We also got a 3 minute penalty for spilling fuel and a stop go penalty for not "pitting" for the minimum 3 minutes but they still held second right through most of the day. I guess a glowing rusty exhaust was going to give up at somepoint. The cars were otherwise amazing. Attachments:

Looks like one of the other teams were running with engines that had been thrashed around all season too, they had both cars with replacement engines back on track within a very short period, greta team effort Attachments:
